But first, I think we got some purple smoke from TCO Performance Center as the Minnesota Vikings hire a new general manager.
And it is not Rob Brzezinski. Instead, they go with Nolan Teasley, who is the Seattle Seahawks Assistant General Manager for the team since 2023. He began with Seattle in 2013 as a scouting intern. And I feel like I should be doing a Paul Heyman introduction for this part. But uh, this man was reportedly heavily involved in facilitating the Russell Wilson. Trade to the Denver Broncos, which brought Devin Witherspoon, Charles Cross, and Abraham Lucas to Seattle. He also traded away DK Metcalf, made some strewed uh free agent and trade acquisitions, including Cooper Cup, Leonard Williams, and Ernest Jones and Oh, yeah, he also brought Sam Darnold aboard. You might have heard that if you're a Viking fan.
And he drafted really well uh as part of John Schneider's front office. So our friend Jason Harmon of Score North uh called this the Pentagon of Power because Rob Brzezinski isn't going anywhere. He will still have a big influence on the Vikings move per Kevin Stefert. Uh Stefert also reported or this. Might have been to Pelicero actually, Tom Pelcero of NFL Network. Uh, that Teasley will report to ownership and Kevin O'Connell's in there because although he was, you know, oh well, you know, just be an honor to be in the room and whatever. Uh Adam Schefter said again today that he was heavily involved in this search, and uh Brian Flores is somewhere in this picture. I I don't know where. So Let's start here, Adam.
What do you think about Nolan Teasley, the new Minnesota Vikings general manager?
I like it. I like the the hire mostly ca because I didn't think the Vikings had the balls to do it. Um I think a lot of us, I think a lot of people who cover this team expected the Vikings to just play it safe, go with Rob Brzezinski, have him and Kevin O'Connell and Brian Flores work together like they did this offseason. But no, the Vikings went outside their organization. Uh Teasley has never worked for the Vikings, like some of the candidates that were up for the job. He's never worked directly with Kevin O'Connell, even though there's there's been reports that the two have some sort of relationship. Um so that's that that played a factor, but they've never worked on the same team before. So uh that was that was a risk.
They went with someone who's never been a GM. Before, which is what they did first with with Quasi. Um, but this seems to be so a little bit less of a risk in that aspect. In that Teasley actually played football in college. He's been with the Seahawks for the last 13 years as a as a scout, uh, doing you know player personnel, pro personnel stuff, draft stuff, free agency trades, UDFAs. Like he he Has been mixed in the process of building the rosters that the the Seahawks have had over the last decade plus. So um I'm curious to see how it goes in terms of how he works with Kevin O'Connell, how he works with Rob Brzezinski.
