It must have been, because it would be impossible for them to have reached another. That would have meant that they would have reached this would be their third. You see the maths I'm doing. Mental arithmetic, by the way. Just off the top of my head, ladies and gentlemen. Very good, very good. Anyway, Mikel Oyafabao scored the opening goal uh with a with a penalty there. Before Pedro Porro secured the win with a brilliant second goal.
Now Spain will face either England or or reigning champions Argentina, as they seek to win the World Cup for the second time. France will, of course, contest Saturday's third placed playoff. Uh John, I'll come to you first. Spain I mean they stepped up a gear today, didn't they? They were so good in in in this game. Somewhat of a surprise for us watching. I think will be a bit of a surprise for people around the world who had only so far this tournament seen France just excel and be incredible. Spain put them to bed today.
Yeah, I think, you know, the the narrative that we've been spinning from a tactical point of view is that That Spain have system and France have, you know, players who can pull it out of the bag for them. And um the big conversation we've had all the way through is are Spain alm not being let down by their better players, but their you know, the system is having to do a lot of bailing out, um and and keeping them in this and it felt as though that shifted tonight. Um but y uh it o it also felt as though I think Danny Olmo had a fantastic game. today as well. Uh we've we're we're gonna talk about some of these other players who've played well. It felt as though the system was there, but also the the players were there as well. And to to an extent I felt as though the players had to play out of their skin, particularly out of possession, in order to to put in such an impressive performance.
