Claudia Valdiviezo’s story doesn’t follow a straight line. She was born in Peru and moved to the U.S. when she was just 4 years old. When Claudia was 11, her parents made the decision to move back to Peru, and that’s when she really knew what adapting means and had to navigate identity in a way that goes far beyond speaking Spanish. Eventually, she thrived and, for a moment, she thought she would live in Peru forever.But Claudia's journey living abroad got another chapter. Years later, she decided to leave again, as an adult, moved by a wish to walk away from a stable career path to pursue something completely different. In this episode, Claudia shares what it felt like to return to a place that was supposed to be “home” — but didn’t quite feel like it and her decision to move to New York City by herself and the decision-making process behind her choice to rebuild a career from scratch.
