Triple M footy lives on listener. Thanks to McDonald's and Ream Hot Water.
Triple M footy is dialed in for your Saturday Arvo.
Good to be back on Saturdays with the boys. Big names. Nathan Hindmarsh, Wade Graham and Dave Riccio. Big opinions. Lomax wouldn't have made a lick of difference to that side.
I think it's one of the weakest players in Origin history. It's not a club, it's not mired by more drama.
But not so big on facts.
Um...
This is the Triple M Footy Saturday Scrum. Thirsty Camel. Camel on down to Thirsty Camel Bottle Shops for unseriously good deals. Drink responsibly. Here's Tony Squires.
And I'm joined by Nathan Hindmarsh, Wade Graham and David Riccio. Yes, we've got the band back together. How exciting, honey.
What are you looking at me for? I thought you left. I thought you quit and got a new job.
No, no, no. I've been away for two weeks, yes. It does feel like a long time. Back-to-back weeks. It does feel like a long back-to-back weeks, which is quite... Quite rare in our industry, I suppose. I had to go to Fiji.
Fiji, how was that?
That was for the station. That was quick. That was sharp. It was, you know, just mingling and all that sort of stuff.
Was there a carver ceremony at any point along the way?
We did dabble in a bit of carver. I don't know if it was a ceremony, but it was definitely some carver. Yeah, yeah. And then on the weekend, I just, you know, I got the opportunity to spend some time with my children. It was great. Wish I hadn't. But I did. I did. You wish you hadn't. I wish I hadn't. It's just they just don't care. They don't care about me. They don't care about much at all except themselves. Really? Just children these days. No, I know that feeling. You know that feeling?
I do know that feeling.
But I've got a spring in my step today. I'm pumped for today.
Two hours of power. Just two hours we have to share with you today. And plenty to get to games of football that have already been played. But, of course, we'll be casting our minds forward to what happens in Melbourne on Wednesday. Talking, of course, about State of Origin 2. Can the Blues get that job done? We're going to go later in the show. into the Blues camp. But I think perhaps news means we may start exactly there. There is so much. There's a bit going on and a chance right now to catch up and go inside that camp with the team manager, Frank Panisi. Welcome. Thank you very much, Frank. I know you're very busy. You're in transit as we speak.
Yes, Tony. We've just finished training and the next hour or so we'll head down the freeway to Sydney Airport and get on a flight to Melbourne.
And there is some injury news coming out of the camp. Can you tell us what's going on?
Yes, unfortunately, Casey McLean's been ruled out, not due to his ankle. It's a new injury. He strained his thigh very early in the session. He's been working so hard on his ankle the last few days, and he felt good. But today was about giving it a test, but he never got to do that with his thigh. On the other side, he's got the right ankle injury that he's been managing real well all week. And today it was his right thigh. So it's, it's a minor injuries, but our medical staff believe it's a seven day minimum return to play, which obviously rules him out for Wednesday night.
Frank, Dave Riccio, how did it unfold?
It was very early in the session, David. It was, uh, just after warmup, uh, you know, still not going at any, any, uh, rapid paces, you know, as you know, the players warm into the session and, uh, He just felt his side go straight away and he raced off to the medical team and they looked at it and they confirmed that it was definitely a strain. The severity of it, they're not too sure, but they're pretty sure it's only minor. But again, as I said, it's as a minimum would be a seven day return to play, which obviously for Wednesday night falls within that. So hopefully for his sake, we'll be back for Penrith next week or definitely the week after.
Hey, Frank, Wade Graham here, mate. I know you're probably scrambling right now, but have you worked out who's going to come into the squad?
