Triple M footy lives on, listener. Thanks to McDonald's and Ream Hot Water.
Here we go.
We've got a game on our hands. The NRL is on Triple M. How about that? And we've got all the goss. Behind the scenes news on and off the field. From press conferences to inside the locker rooms. I love being a part of it. I'm feeling real at the moment. It's a tough game to play. Massive responsibility. But a really good chance. On Triple M, this is NRL Daily.
Welcome to Triple M NRL Daily here on a Tuesday with my favourite people in the world of rugby league. Brent Reid and David Riccio from Code Sports. Oh, and you're my favourite person in the world. That's good to hear.
Of rugby league. Of rugby league specifically.
Shout out to our partners.
I don't know if you're the favourite, but you're somewhere in the top ten. Top ten, yeah. Probably makes the top eight. Top eight, yeah. Top eight of a big field, though.
There's hundreds of people in the world of rugby league, so that's good. I'll take it. Great shows from you two last night on your respective channels.
It's all a bit of fun. The season's just... Hammering along, there's always something to talk about. In the great game where Eddie was talking about Sam Walker's contract, Tommy Dearden, you gave Tommy Dearden a nice little backhanded compliment. Oh, no, he's all good, Tommy. We'll talk about that.
He's a good fella.
Then on agenda setters, we had a good chat with Cameron Terral, though, about the doggies. This is a huge game against the Roosters. Massive, yeah. Satili Tupinu are coming back. Can they win?
Can they win, Dave? We'll get to that, won't we? We'll get to that.
Good book and a tease, mate. I know you're doing a lot of hosting these days with the Athletes Journey podcast, which he's been ferociously planning for before we started this podcast.
Good to see you.
Committed. Good to see you here, Edie. But if you like this show, if you could leave us a review on Apple and Spotify, it does mean a lot. Plus, subscribe on YouTube and follow us on Triple M NRL for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. But let's talk Tom Dearden, because you did have a bit of a crack at him last night. I didn't have a crack at him. You did a little bit. And I actually, I get where you're coming from.
But this is about Tommy saying, so we should unpack this story, right? Do it. Set the scenery. So there's been rumours all year about Tommy Dearden and his future in North Queensland related. And it relates to his partner. His partner is now pregnant. She doesn't live in Townsville at the moment. She lives in Sydney. She's got a business in Sydney, a successful business. And the rumours were going around because there were some clubs sounded out about whether they would be interested in Tom Dearden.
Mm-hmm.
And as a result of that, it found its way into the media. It was denied by everyone. The Cowboys denied he was going anywhere, and they continue to deny he's going anywhere. But there has been conversations between the Cowboys and Sam's agent just about the situation and challenges confronting Tommy and his partner. Obviously, she's from Sydney. She's going to move up to Townsville, have the baby. They're about to become parents. And I guess the conversations were around if she can't settle in in Townsville, would you be open to potentially allowing Tom to leave at some point, right? Now, the Cowboys have said no. Tom's come out publicly and said, I'm not going anywhere. I'm committed to the Cowboys. I'm in sort of a wait and see position.
Let's see how it unfolds right over the next 12 months. But there were some interesting things he said in particular, and you're saying I ought to go at him. Tommy said, I'd like my private life to be kept private. Now, Tommy posted and his partner posted all over social media that they were pregnant, they were having a baby. If you want to keep your private life private, then, you know, why post all over social media? Yeah. Right? I mean, so that's, you know, and I love Tommy. You know what? He is a champion guy, Tommy Dean. He's a great footballer.
