Now, it is Easter Sunday, April 5th of 2015 in Leighton, which is a small farming town in New South Wales, Australia, which is about six hours southwest of Sydney.
Stephanie's fiancé, Aaron Leeson Woolley, is driving home after a weekend away, and he's been trying to reach Stephanie the entire time. But there's no answer. Now, he isn't worried yet, because she had a hundred things on her mind with their wedding only six days away. But when he pulls up to their house, just after 7.20pm, it's completely dark. Her Mazda is not there. And inside, their wedding place cards are spread out across the kitchen table, and they're half finished, as though Stephanie just stepped away midway through and meant to come right back. Aaron drives around town. He's looking for his fiance. He calls all of her friends, and no one has seen her or heard from her. And he tells himself she'd maybe stayed somewhere for the night.
But by the next morning, with still no word, Aaron does the thing that he has been dreading. He gets on the phone and he reports the woman that he was about to marry missing. Now, before we go any further, I, of course, want you to know who Stephanie was. Stephanie Claire Scott was born on October 14th of 1988 in Sydney, Australia. She was the fourth child born to her parents, Robert, who they called Bob, and Marilyn. She had two brothers and two sisters. Gordon, Stuart, Robin, and Kim. And the Scott family lived in the suburb of St. Clair. But when Stephanie was around nine, they moved to the town of Conoundra. And this is in the state's central west. And Stephanie enjoyed a typical carefree childhood in the country with her siblings.
She shared a bedroom with her two sisters, and the three girls became extremely close. they would talk all the time giggle into the night as they fell asleep and having two brothers there was never a dull moment in the scott household and in addition to playing jokes on other people stephanie knew how to laugh at herself as well and early on her dad gave her the nickname it was pretty adorable it was button nose and looking back on pictures of her it's easy to understand why stephanie loved being around other people even from a young age She joined the local Girl Guides and she played soccer. And she truly enjoyed learning and loved school. And this was something her dad, Bob, had really tried to instill in all of his children because he was a school teacher at the local high school.
So of course, he was thrilled that Stephanie shared his passion for education. Stephanie's bubbly personality meant that she was someone you could not easily forget. It was fitting that her favorite color was yellow. It was bright. Like she was. She loved playing pranks on her siblings, and like many girls, she also loved fashion, dressing up, and even sewing. Stephanie showed early signs of being not just a team player, but a leader and someone who loved the spotlight.
