So in the last week, Let's say a week, so about a little week and two days ago, we're at a football game, and we get a text that my brother-in-law, Ben Atkins, has had a stroke. And he's only, what, 40? He's mid-40s? He's your brother-in-law. He's
nearing 50 because your sister just turned 50.
Well, he's younger than me, though, and I'm 48, so he's got to be 40. She married young. She cradle robbed on that one. We tell the story. She was a counselor at the camp. He was a camper. But, of course, they found each other when they were in college. But anyway, so we ended up at the ER last weekend, because he had all the symptoms of a stroke, everything. I mean, slurred speech, didn't know his birthday, the whole thing. And so they ran the whole, all the work up on him. Turns out he was dehydrated, but it was quite the, quite the, I mean, we thought, I mean, we were pretty, pretty confident that he was
interesting about that. I didn't know. I mean, I did talk to Ben afterwards. I didn't know about the stroke part. I just checked on him once. I heard he was sick and he said, I was just dehydrated. But, you know, he was with us years ago, and at this time he would have been probably 30s, early 30s or late 20s even. And we were in Dominican, and he was my interpreter down there because he speaks fluent Spanish. And he got dehydrated. Now I know what it was, but something happened one night to him when we were speaking. It's hot in the Dominican Republic, and it's in the summer. And I'm speaking, and he just locked up on me. Like, you know, your interpreter's, like, going, and he looked at me like, I'm lost here.

totally – and looking back on it, I bet that's exactly what that was. We
never knew what
happened. He went home and drank a bunch of water and slept in the thing for a day or two, and then he got all right again. But that's exactly what it was then,
I bet. Then the next Friday night, we're at the football game, And a kid collapses. I mean, this is a whole ordeal. They bring out the paddles, the whole nine yards. At the game? At the game. And so then they bring out an ambulance, which took forever to get there. Then a cheerleader collapses. They bring out another ambulance. So at the high school football game the very next week, we had two ambulances, about an hour delay, just getting everybody out. Then the very next day, one of our elders, 42 years old, had a heart attack. It has been a whirlwind. It's just been a crazy week, man. I'm telling you. I
feel better about my
week. Outwardly, we are wasting away. Yes, we are. I mean, look. I was just speaking all over the place. The way I feel about that when I hear this is we view death as a problem unless you're in Jesus. But it's like people blame God for various things, and we've all had our moments. My best friend from high school got killed in a car wreck, and I was like, well, why did this happen? But death is not a problem if you're in Jesus. We're all going to die. Actually, I was in North Dakota, and I had various symptoms because I go two days to North Dakota, do an event there i wasn't duck hunting everybody i told i was going to north dakota they're like oh you're going to hunt ducks because north dakota is one of our states
