So today on Uniquely Human the Podcast, we're having a special episode. And if I could be a little self-indulgent, I'll share that the episode actually is a replay of a podcast interview that I was on with a couple of dads from the Polaris School in Arizona. And I think what's so special about it is having dads speak with me about their changing perceptions of their kids. Um and in particular how they needed to kind of look beyond the stereotypes and in some cases the negative attributions that are often thrown at the whole concept of autism and especially autistic people. So I thought it was wonderful discussion and therefore we're going to share it with you as today's podcast. So enjoy. The whole notion is there's no such thing as autistic behaviors because once you just call them autistic behaviors, you know, the term that's used a lot now that I've been using for years is you pathologize them.
Barry Prezant 2:24
It's something that's wrong, it's something that's bad, without asking what I call the deep why. Well, why is the child doing that?
Brad Broyles 2:34

Thank you. Brad and Nathan, pleasure to be with you.
Nathan Palmer 3:08
Now, Brad, you said you know this is something where we connect families with industry experts. And uh I I want to really qualify that here because in talking about experts, uh Dr. Brazant is a leading expert in the field. And if you'll indulge me for a second, I want to explain why. Um Dr. Brazant has fifty years of experience as a scholar, a researcher, an author, an international consultant, you know, among other things. In publishing books, he's had numerous awards from the Princeton University Eden Foundation for improving quality of life for persons on the autism spectrum, honors from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. He's also a certified speech pathologist, has been a two-time featured presenter at the United Nations World Autism Awareness Day, and really has been just a huge advocate.
Nathan Palmer 3:56
