Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
This is an unspoiled network podcast.
Chapter 2: What chapters of the Dresden Files are covered in this episode?
This is unspoiled covering the Dresden Files, book 18, 12 months, chapters 27 and 28. In these chapters, Harry talks to Lara, gets some information. There's a whole thing with her dad. Really do not like this guy. What's going to happen next? Welcome
unspoiled nobody's good
Welcome to the show, everyone. I am Natasha. I'm Rashawn. Rashawn, did I talk about this chapter last week? Did I talk about Chapter 27 last week by accident?
No, the only thing you said, which I think came up in the previous chapter, I don't remember us having any conversation about any of this, except the idea that Lara could be claimed. Harry by pretending to be sincere, which is a thought that Harry has himself.
Chapter 3: What information does Harry gather from Lara?
It gets echoed by Lord Reef. when he, when he talks to Harry, but Harry had had that thought himself. I don't really remember anything else, but also, you know, you really shouldn't. Yeah.
You know, I was like, I'm reading chapter 27 today. And I actually went and double checked the reading schedule because I was like, we covered this already. Didn't we?
Chapter 4: How does Harry feel about Lara's father?
And we shouldn't have, but I could have sworn that I talked about the fact that Lara's like, you could, you know, enslave me with magic and it doesn't seem to have occurred to you. And that we talked about Harry saying, maybe I can fix her.
You did say something about how a wizard could... Yeah. But I don't think you presented it like it was a concern that Lara had. But again, I don't remember...
You know, that's for the best. You're the one that I worry about me fucking it up for.
Chapter 5: What concerns does Harry have about upcoming events?
And if you don't recall, then it's fine. But anybody who's like following along, if you're like, what the fuck? That wasn't in this section. What's she talking about? My apologies. That's my bad. I just really got ahead of myself on that. And I think I may have even mentioned it in the like show notes for the last episode as well.
So I was just all kinds of wrong about what we were, what we were covering last time. So apologies, because in some part, I feel like we've talked about this chapter. And it's only a two chapter section. So like half of it is, you know, Yamaha says you talked about that, but I'm always one chapter ahead. So I didn't flag it. Yeah, okay. Because nobody mentioned it anywhere.
And if there's somebody following along, they'll usually point it out. But this is something that I'm confident most people are not trying to follow along. They just went and read the book as soon as they could, understandably. So I think that it will be a while before I encounter somebody who's following along and is like, hold on. I don't think that's going to be too common. But anyway...
how did you feel about these chapters and all of the information that gets dropped here? Um, new facts.
The, the reveal about what the hunger is and how it works and how it came to be was really, really fascinating. Um, that the hunger is from the outside. It's an outsider. Um, and this weird way it was created and then replicated itself. Like the, the whole like bonding and then having a baby that was had this like larva inside of it, this hunger larva sort of thing. Yeah.
I, I really liked the conversation Lara and Harry had about, which is kind of what you were talking about, I guess last week as well. But yeah, Sorry. I love the resolution that they come to, which is sort of a... We are both dangerous to each other. Yeah. But we can find a balance where both of our interests are sort of served.
Neither of us gets everything we want, but each of us gets a little bit of what we want and what we need. And then also... Harry is like, this is a state marriage. And I was like, but it could be more. And I'm like, word, it could be more. Oh, boy. Could it be more? There was a really interesting moment that we don't hear anything else really about. But I want to know.
I want to know, like, and maybe I'm being an idiot because it's a bear gets called away to to, to a phone call. And if I'm not mistaken, that is when Lord Wraith just suddenly is able to show up and have this one-on-one, this private time with Harry. Um, and that feels like, okay, that was clearly as part of a setup.
Like, I don't know who arranged it and how they pulled it off and who's, who's all involved, but, um, But then I was like, what if there really was a call? And he just was, cause clearly he was at the Halloween party. We find out like he's just been around.

Chapter 6: What new facts about the Hunger are revealed?
And she seems to be... It is a weird non sequitur though.
Right? Like out of nowhere. But she seems to be really amused by it. And that's what I found the most compelling about this chapter is they seem... to be each finding things about the other that they just enjoy that they like, you know, um, not that they're falling in love or that they're going to be, you know, best friends or whatever, but they just seem to be,
a growing appreciation between the two, which is really, really interesting to watch develop. Um, and one I know is going to be tested. Um, that's got, there's just no way around it. I feel like there's going to be, I don't know what, but it's going to be something that tests this newfound sort of on the same page that Lara and Harry are kind of enjoying this sort of, um,
It's not trust, but it's on the way. Yeah. You know, it's like a little seedling, you know. Trust adjacent. Yeah, you know, it's in the neighborhood. It's driving around looking for the house, but it hasn't really found it yet. It's DoorDash trying to deliver me food, leaving it on the outside of my building on the back instead of coming to the front with the code.
Oh, my God.
every time for a second I thought that you were like saying that this was happening as we were speaking oh no but that's my everyday experience with DoorDash they refuse to come to the front of my building they pull up to the back door there's no way to enter there's no call box there's no doorbell and they just think that that's a door that they should be able to get into and then when they can't they just leave it there outside
And then drive away. And to get away from my building, you know what you have to do? You have to come around the front. I was about to say drive around the area that you should have been in in the first place. Every time. Every time. So that's Harry and Lara. They are, you know, getting really close to having something I think that could be really interesting to watch.
But Harry's got these needling doubts. And then the very next chapter we get Wraith just, like, poking right at those doubts.
Yeah.

Chapter 7: How does the conversation between Harry and Lara evolve?
And anti-talent, he calls it. Mm-hmm. Yep. And every once in a while, you're going to have somebody who's put in a situation that is the guaranteed worst possible situation they could be put in. And they're going to fuck it up because they can't not but fuck it up.
Mm-hmm.
he says there's always a perfect idiot somewhere and I thought about that guys I had to put the book down for a second what did you like I don't even I'm thinking about that in real life and like not to be overly political but this might be like the best explanation For like Trump. I've ever.
Like. That everything about him. Is the opposite of what you want. For this position. He has somehow found himself. Being president. Which he's extremely. Not good at.
But he's also a man that had very specific talents. That allowed him to. Whether we value those talents or not. Right like. I'm calling it a talent, and that sounds like I'm making it like a judgment, like it's a good thing. But I just mean he's gifted at a very specific type of thing, which happens to be like a grift and a con, and he's very good at that.
And that's his unique talent that helped, you know. I mean, granted, he came from a Silver Spoon situation, but he really did launch himself into more money than he could have ever imagined.
yeah while simultaneously being especially bad at almost everything else it's really wild yeah yep um so yeah i had to sit with that for a few minutes what do you think your thing is that you are like so uniquely terrible at oh do you have anything uniquely terrible i'm terrible at all kinds of things
I mean, this is the thing is like, I have a few things that I could pick from, but there's some things that like, like for me, I can't name a specific, what I'm going to go with is basketball. But a lot of team sports in general, I don't know what it is, but it's wild that I played soccer for as long as I did and I got decent at it.
So I feel like soccer is like, doesn't really, I can't say team sports doesn't across the board because I was good at that. But I have tried so hard at basketball a couple of times and it was like, I can't believe how bad I am at it. Um, and also similar thing with volleyball, really fucking terrible. Just there's a, there's a variety of team sports that I don't,

Chapter 8: What insights does Lord Wraith provide about Lara?
And that also struck too, right? Because, well, I mean, because all the other things, right? Right. Yep. Uh, my generation and your generation, like not that it's been great because it hasn't been, but comparatively, comparatively, you know, we have been experiencing, uh, unusually long, quiet spell.
Um, especially in the United States, even though we've been actively involved in conflicts, they've all been on other land. You know, we haven't had to deal with war like outside of our window. Um, And now that things are turning and moving and not in a great direction and everything is collapsing around us, it's all feeling very much like, how could this be? Mm-hmm.
As opposed to, this is how it's been for the majority of existence. Yeah. And we just had a little period where things were different, you know.
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Yeah, it's us being like, the world is ending! And really, in reference to how the world has been most of the time, this is still very small potatoes. It's what Bear was saying to him about the battle, being like, it was minor. And he's pissed in response to her saying that, because he doesn't know anything else. And he's like, it didn't feel minor.
And she's like, I'm sure it didn't. That doesn't change anything!
Like... Yeah, it begins to feel like a personal attack when someone is telling you, you just don't have enough experience to appreciate whatever it is. That stings and it harms our ego a little bit. So we want to get like our hackles up. Hackles up? Yeah, Hackles, right? Yep, that's it. What else could it be, Rashawn? Was it going to be Shackles?
No, I'm thinking about, it was definitely an Ackles. But I was like, do I have... Get him up!
Get him up!
Oh, forgive me.
