What did you think of this episode? I really enjoyed these chapters. I'm just going to come off the bat, you guys. I... I'm as conflicted and turned around as Harry is about dealing with these protesters. I thought about that for so long because both Bear and Will and everyone else who recognizes that this is a problem that should have been dealt with when it was much smaller should not have been allowed to get any bigger. But then how do you do that? What was Harry supposed to do to those people? And Harry's like, his intense empathy for their situation, that they were scared, they've been traumatized, they've lost loved ones, is so fucking valid. But it, but, fucking but, they have turned that into something ugly.
You know, that fear and that trauma make them need to scapegoat or find who's responsible and other them and, you know, get rid of them, push them out. And that's not what you want to do. I am so torn. And I know this is going to be a fucking thing. And I feel like somebody's going to look at Dresden and be like, see? They already did it a little bit. Yeah. You should have fucking nipped this in the bud. You know, now you let it grow.
What challenges does Harry face with the protesters?
And I just, I don't know what to do. I really don't. I was trying very hard not to do the thing where you try to make everything in the book a parallel to what's going on in the world, right? Try very hard not to do that.

Yeah. But I would be lying if I didn't say I was thinking about how we are currently protesting, how protesting is being met by the state. Yeah. In most cases, and it's very, very, very ugly. They're protesting at that facility in New Jersey, at Delaney, where the hunger strike is going on.

Yep.
And they are being absolutely fucking brutal. for no reason with these people that are trying to protest for the protection of the people that are in custody and the fair treatment, not even fair treatment, just fucking better than the squalor they're getting, you know? Um, and so it's, it was, it was, I, it was tough. And I know that this is like, there's more to talk about, but I, um, I desperately wanted to come up with something where I could say, I think Harry should do this. And I couldn't, Like I couldn't come up with it like a everything. It's like what Mab says, right? Like Mab tells Harry, I know I'm jumping ahead. She can do these things, but even she can't see what the ultimate ramifications will be.
Yeah. Of these actions that Harry is asking her to take. Right. I can't guarantee that this won't bite you in your ass is what she's saying. Yeah. And that's kind of, That's kind of with everything. Not just deals with Mab. Not just Harry. We don't know how our choices in this moment are going to boomerang back on us in some manner. you know, a minute later, a year later, 10 years later, you know, that person that you were shitty to that one time is the person that's interviewing for the job you want. And you walk in and there they are like that kind of our story, you know? Yeah. Um, But anyway, I really enjoyed these chapters. There was a lot for me to think about.
It makes me think of this tweet I saw the other day, which was, I screamed at a guy on the street who stepped in front of me and such and such. And then I went to a job interview. And guess who was interviewing me? Not the guy that I screamed at.
