Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast

Why Bother with the Pixel 10a?

20 Feb 2026

Transcription

Chapter 1: What is discussed at the start of this section?

0.031 - 19.784 Andrew

Support for today's show comes from Atio, the AI CRM. On Waveform, we found that the best tools don't make you adapt to them, they actually adapt to you. And that's the idea behind Atio. You connect your email and calendar, and Atio instantly builds your CRM right before your eyes. Every contact, every company, every conversation, all organized in one place.

20.145 - 38.954 Andrew

And AI is there throughout, pulling contacts from calls, researching in the background, and surfacing what matters when you need it the most. If you want a CRM that's actually built to grow and scale with your business from day one, check out Atio. You can go to atio.com slash waveform and you'll get 15% off your first year. That's A-T-T-I-O dot com slash waveform.

39.796 - 41.879 Marques

You're what? Sad at how the A-series phones work.

0

41.899 - 43.221 Andrew

It's not like you'd ever buy it anyway.

0

43.481 - 52.184 Marques

I used to have them. I used to be an A-series guy, not a main pixel guy. I think base pixels got to make moves this year. Agreed. Heart agreed. In what way?

52.204 - 77.763 Andrew

They're just tanking for a refill. I saw that. They want to get trapped. Yo, what is up, people of the internet? Welcome back to another episode of the Waveform Podcast. We're your hosts. I'm Marques. I'm Andrew. I'm David. This week, we've got the Pixel 9a, 10a, sorry, almost the same thing, 10a, a random March Apple event that has been announced.

77.803 - 96.018 Andrew

We'll have some thoughts, a Ring doorbell update. You might have heard us crash out about that last week, and also video on Apple Podcasts, and we're going to wrap it up with a game from Adam. Also, make sure you subscribe. Just before we get into it at all, we saw a comment on the last episode that said you could still hype us.

97.2 - 106.802 Andrew

They've been saying it since we hit 500,000, so for a couple episodes. We're either wrong about the requirements for being hyped, or you guys are breaking YouTube.

106.782 - 109.266 Unknown

YouTube has already forgotten about hyping.

Chapter 2: What are the key features of the Google Pixel 10a?

3171.135 - 3188.921 Unknown

And I wonder how much we would lose on if it would be on Spotify. Like if it's just our audio listeners wanting to hop into video, if that would actually hit our YouTube at all. Yeah. There's just a lot more to it than just can you post it on there. Yeah, like the reason Joe Rogan took that $10 million deal or whatever it was, $100 million.

0

3189.021 - 3190.123 Marques

It's because we turned it down.

0

3190.664 - 3197.495 Unknown

Yeah, because he was the B plan. But the reason he took the $100 million deal was like he was making a lot of money on YouTube.

0

3197.515 - 3200.981 Andrew

Yeah, that's how much it cost to convince him to not put it on YouTube. Exactly.

0

3201.282 - 3201.722 Unknown

Yeah.

3201.742 - 3221.708 Andrew

So... Yeah, and I think it's also worth remembering that YouTube is still technically the largest podcast platform and has a lot of influence on how podcasts get made and shared. And we are a podcast, but as you said, we're a YouTube channel as well. And so there's different things we optimize for in different formats that you lean into.

3221.688 - 3241.386 Unknown

Apple Podcasts does a decent job of doing like charts and different suggested shows. So I think some podcasters who maybe are smaller that have video or like introducing it to that might introduce you to a new audience. Totally. Which could be cool. But in terms of us doing it quite yet... We've got a lot of stuff to figure out before we hop on that.

3241.407 - 3262.586 Andrew

I think Apple Podcasts may be, in my opinion, in my limited experience, the only other podcast platform that is big enough and has enough discoverability through those charts that you could be swayed to go, all right, we should be putting everything on Apple Podcasts because people will find us there and we'll chart there sometimes and get new viewership there. I could see that.

3263.226 - 3266.83 Andrew

It's much easier to convince someone about YouTube there, but... Yeah, I could see that.

Chapter 3: What are the origins of the Ring camera company?

3482.596 - 3498.78 David

And so they pivoted to being a smart doorbell that happened to have a camera. And now that people are just okay with being surveilled 24-7, now they're like, we're a camera company. I guess not. I guess they try to be like, guys, we're a camera company. Here's a Super Bowl ad. And everyone is like, I didn't like that.

Chapter 4: What game do the hosts play related to tech specs?

3499.321 - 3502.646 David

Just go ring, ring. Someone's at the front door. We'll think about it.

0

3503.347 - 3511.219 Unknown

We'll be right back.

0

3512.741 - 3537.221 Marques

Welcome back. We are going to play Two Truths and a Lie. Producer table versus host table. Oh. So there will be points up for grabs. I will say a product, and we're going to tell you three specs from that product. One of them will be completely made up. Two truths, one lie about all of these products. You guys need to agree on which one you think it is. Okay.

0

3537.642 - 3558.011 Marques

And then if we fooled you, we get the point. If you get it right, you get the point. Okay. All right. Real products. Yeah, real products. All right. Let's start easy. All right. Pixel 10 Pro, the first spec. It comes in two screen sizes, the Pro, which is 6.3 inches, and the Pro XL, which is 6.7 inches. Second spec, seven years of software updates.

0

3558.732 - 3563.899 Marques

The third spec comes with a year of Google AI Pro, a $239 value.

3565.55 - 3573.565 Andrew

I'm like trying to think of every single thing that you said. The seven years is of security updates and pixel drops, not full-on software updates.

3573.625 - 3574.968 Marques

Are there technicalities like this?

3575.309 - 3575.99 Unknown

There have to be.

3576.19 - 3582.982 Marques

There are, but I'm pulling this straight from their website. And you said seven... Seven years of software updates.

Chapter 5: What are the key specifications of the Pixel 10 Pro?

3583.263 - 3584.183 Marques

I think that's a lie.

0

3584.344 - 3588.507 Andrew

That's my guess because it's security updates, not... Yeah, and pixel drop.

0

3588.527 - 3596.454 Unknown

I think it's the lie because in seven years, AI will have destroyed humanity, so they won't be able to... Seven years of new features and updates, if that changes it.

0

3596.474 - 3599.217 Marques

It does.

0

3600.257 - 3605.802 Unknown

Okay. Okay, so 6.3 and 6.7, does that sound right for 10 and 10 Pro?

3605.822 - 3618.892 Andrew

6.3 and 6.7, yes, that sounds right. 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, yep. And then... Or did they change the screenshot size by 0.1? Or was that Apple? I have the Pro on my desk. I'm fair... Oh... No, I think that's right. I think that's right. 6.3.

3619.232 - 3624.1 Unknown

So maybe it doesn't come with Google AI Pro for a year. I thought it did. Or maybe it wasn't a $230 value.

3624.521 - 3629.229 Andrew

Oh, doesn't it come with Ultra? No. No, it doesn't. That's crazy. That's the $200 one?

3629.91 - 3632.174 Unknown

Pro is $20 a month. Do you want me to reread that for you?

Chapter 6: What trivia questions do the hosts explore?

3674.09 - 3683.104 Unknown

I knew they changed it by a millimeter. 6.8? I knew they changed it by 0.1 inches. Okay. You got us.

0

3683.084 - 3687.03 Andrew

Yay. Damn it. We're losing this game still.

0

3687.29 - 3700.851 Unknown

Also, can I just say, I love that we, not we, but the Royal We bullied Google into seven years of software updates. We slowly bullied these companies into actually providing. Seven years is a long time.

0

3700.871 - 3708.383 Andrew

I mean, didn't the iPhone, what iPhone just got an update after like 10 years recently? There's some headline. It was just some security update. Oh, it was like a security update.

0

3708.363 - 3709.804 Unknown

It was like a four, wasn't it?

3710.065 - 3710.645 Andrew

Or a six?

3710.705 - 3714.349 Unknown

But very few companies update things for seven years. That's like a long time.

3714.369 - 3739.264 David

They usually forget it exists after one year. Yeah. You know, Marques, I'm really glad you brought that up because the next product on our list, arguably the greatest consumer product ever released by any company ever. Humane AI. I know a lot about this. Humane AI. Yeah. Better than the Humane AI pin. Oh. More benefit to society than penicillin. Jeez. The iPhone 12 mini. The wheel.

3739.304 - 3745.069 David

Are you guys... Fire. Way more than the wheel. Way more than fire. Dude, I'm too hot.
