"A Vision Quest is the ultimate shedding of distractions - whether it's tents, warmth, or Facebook likes, those are the trappings of the ego. Those things are what brings us safety, security, and comfort which are all allusions of the ego. A Vision Quest is the intentional process of shifting one's identity from the place of the ego to the place of one's soul. For that to happen, the ego has to loosen its grip during this shedding process and that isn't comfortable. That's why it's important for people have this honest calling and a certain courage to do a Vision Quest because they have to be ready to let go of the things that keep them comfortable.
