Xan, man. Nice to meet you. We have been trying to get you on for a while. Okay? You are on our wish list. Okay? I thought you were Little Xan. I thought Little Xan was Xan Man. But it doesn't matter anymore because I've got both the Xans. And if there's another Xan Dylan, I want that Xan too. Okay, I want all the zans. All the zans. All the zans. So, man, tell me about your upbringing.

Chapter 4: Why is it important for families to have Narcan?

92.497 - 116.201 Xanman

It all started, you know what I'm saying? I'm from Maryland, Prince George's County, Maryland. And I'm from a hood around here. It's called Brycey Road. It's in a city called Landover. So my upbringing, you know, I seen a lot. You know, my grandfather was in the streets. My cousins, all of my cousins was in the streets. But, you know, my grandmother didn't want that for me.

Chapter 5: What substances has Xanman struggled with?

116.261 - 134.354 Xanman

So she's kind of shifting me away. My mom had me at 15 or 15 or 16. So she is so young. She was so young. And, you know, my grandmother took legal guardianship over me. So I was with her and her and my grandfather raised me.

Chapter 8: How did Xanman's upbringing shape his views on violence?

149.493 - 157.639 Richard Taite

Of course, because you're a baby at 15. But why wasn't she living at home with her parents and you?

0

158.26 - 169.088 Xanman

Maybe due to being rebellious. She was with me for a while, but she wanted to be outside, do her thing. She's enjoying her teenage years. Are you close with your mom now?

0

169.986 - 177.773 Xanman's Mother

Yeah, I got to have a radio show with my mom. I do. Where does she live? She's in Maryland. Is she proud of you? She's proud of me. Yeah.

177.793 - 186.988 Richard Taite

You're going to make me start crying. Fuck. Your grandparents proud of you?

0

190.369 - 210.295 Xanman

They are. My grandmother was, you know, who raised me. She let me drop out when I was 16, actually, and bought me a studio for me to, you know what I'm saying, to do this. Because, you know, she believed in me since the beginning. My grandfather invested everything that I needed at the time.

212.006 - 236.946 Xanman

And I still chose the streets, you know, because what I was surrounded by from my friends and things that I was doing, I was kind of always the leader, you know what I'm saying? So, you know, come with stuff like that. But, yeah, my grandparents are very proud of me. Are they still alive? Not my grandfather. He passed away in, he was what, 56? He passed away in 2020.

237.146 - 258.632 Xanman

Leukemia, hair cell leukemia came back for him after being in remission for about like eight to 10 years. He was on life support at first. And it went away, then it came back, hit him like a rock. It only took him about like a month and a half or two to take him out. I'm sorry. Yeah. And how old are you? 24.

261.218 - 267.727 Richard Taite

So this was four or five years ago. Yeah. And you were 19. This must have just destroyed you.

267.747 - 282.618 Xanman

It did. Like, that was my dad. You know what I'm saying? Like. That's, I don't want to get emotional and all, but, you know.
