The EU has invited Canada to become the block's first ever associate member, building on an existing free trade agreement with partnerships spanning AI, critical minerals, the Arctic, and a range of other issues. Our reporting earlier this week suggests the new relationship could also include visa-free travel, as well as the free movement of goods and people working in critical industries in order to secure supply chains. During a speech today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also proposed banning children under age thirteen from accessing social media, online games, and chatbots. OpenAI is in early talks with investors for a fresh funding round that could value the ChatGPT maker at more than $1.2 trillion.
