Jen's Story

Welcome back to the "You're Not Alone Podcast"! Today Morgan and Val are joined by their friend, Jen Nicoll, a stroke SURVIVOR and all around go getter that doesn't let anything stop her!  Jen shares her story of waking up in the middle of the night, knowing something was definitely wrong. Her husband moved quickly to call for help and Jen woke up two days later in ICU. Jen had sustained a serious stroke at 35 years old. This amazing wife and mother to then 3 year old, Jessica, knew she was not going to let anything stop her from being a successful mom, wife, and community leader. Jen worked hard in speech, occupational, and physical therapies for many years to move forward with her life. A chance encounter at a Walmart led to meeting Dan Zimmerman, founder of Spokes Fighting Strokes. Since then she has become the Phoenix manager of the organization, also guiding many new riders across town on adapted trikes. Jen has become an amazing advocate for not only local stroke survivors, but she is also reaching communities with her TikTok page, @one.handed.cooker , where Jen posts videos of delicious recipies she makes one-handed on her Blackstone grill!
