Description

Welcome to episode 37.  In this episode I want to talk about how to follow through your big dreams. Specifically, here's what I'll cover: 1) Find an inspiration point: When you were a kid – what did you want to be when you grew up?  I wanted to be a teacher however I ended up working in a bank.  I'll share how I eventually followed through to make this dream a reality even when it wasn't in my job description. 2) Start before you're ready: Following your dreams and doing the stuff you most want is scary. You're going out on a limb, doing something new and fear is right there ready to save you by moving you back into your comfort zone.  So how do you do what you most want – even though you're scared to death. This is what Steven Pressfield, author of The War of Art, has to say about self-doubt: "Self-doubt can be an ally. This is because it serves as an indicator of aspiration.  It reflects love, love of something we dream of doing, and desire, desire to do it.  If you find yourself asking yourself (or your friends), 'Am I really a writer? Am I really an artist?' chances are you are. The counterfeit innovator is wildly self-confident. The real one is scared to death." How true is that? 3) Student becomes the teacher: And finally, the one practice that has time and time again proved to me how to learn to become a master of your craft or expert in your field.  I'll share how teaching what you most want is the best way to learn it yourself. If you have a specific question or topic, you'd like me to talk about on the podcast I want to hear from you.
