Let's go!Αποκρίνομαι (apokrinome) in Greek means 'I verbally respond', 'I reply'. Αποκριτής or Υποκριτής (apokritis /ypokritis) in both ancient and modern Greek was the word for 'Actor'. If you've listened ot work 'Thespian', you know why and therefore it meant someone on stage pretending to be someone else.
