This Sunday (December 3rd 2023) marks the 169th anniversary of the Eureka Stockade, arguably on of the most important events in Australian history. It marks the day when the common man stood up to government overreach, brutality and oppression, establishing the well known Australian mentality of supporting the underdog, overcoming adversity and standing up for what is just and right. This historical event of 1854 sowed the seeds for democracy in Australia and challenged the status quo of the monarchy. Australia's very own rebellion if you will. To help me discuss this topic I was joined by Old Man Raven, a man with a love of history and sense of patriotism that very much comes across in his research and reverence for the men and women of the Eureka stockade.
