今回ご紹介するのは、初の爬虫類キョラモン。 ヘビのご紹介です。 奄美には有名なハブをはじめとして、8種類の蛇が生息しています。 その中でも、本日ご紹介するのは、ヒャン。 少し変わった名前ですが、日照という意味があるそうです。 長さ30～60センチ（日本酒一升瓶の長さ）の細い体をした毒蛇で、 エサとなるヘビやトカゲなども、毒で仕留めるそう。 準絶滅危惧種で、生息地は奄美大島、加計呂麻島、与路島、請島の 森の中など湿った環境を好むヘビで、オレンジと黒の中々毒ヘビっぽい体色をしています。 しっぽの先が尖っており、トゲが生えているのが特徴。 徳之島には、ヒャンに非常に似た蛇でハイという蛇がいます。 じつはこのハイも日照を意味する言葉だそうで、 何かしら色や形と日照とのの関連があったのかと思われます。 …ですが、はっきりしたところが不明。 もしご存じの方がいたら、ぜひメッセージでお知らせください！ 後半でも、ヒャンのご紹介をしていきます！ お楽しみに。 ----- Instagramでの発信もはじめました！ kyora_mon.amami
