Connect Audioscrape to ChatGPT
Add podcast search to ChatGPT in a few minutes. Requires a paid ChatGPT plan with Developer Mode enabled.
Before You Start
- ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise, or Edu plan (upgrade here — custom MCP connectors are not available on the free tier)
- An Audioscrape account — sign up free
- Team or Enterprise admins: your workspace admin must first enable Developer Mode under Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected Data → Developer Mode.
Enable Developer Mode
In ChatGPT, go to Settings → Connectors → Advanced, then toggle Developer Mode on.
This unlocks the ability to add custom MCP servers. You only need to do this once per account.
Add the Audioscrape Connector
Still in Settings → Connectors, click Create. Enter this URL as the MCP server endpoint:
https://mcp.audioscrape.com
Give it a clear name (e.g. Audioscrape) and a short description (e.g. Search 18M+ items of podcasts and talks). ChatGPT uses these to decide when to invoke the tool.
Connect Your Audioscrape Account
After saving the connector, ChatGPT will prompt you to authorize access. Sign in with your Audioscrape account — this links your subscription so search results respect your access rights.
Audioscrape uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. We never see your ChatGPT credentials, and you can revoke access at any time from your Audioscrape account page.
Use It in a Conversation
Start a new chat. Click the + icon in the composer, choose More → Developer mode, then select Audioscrape to enable it as a source for the conversation.
You'll need to enable the connector per-conversation. Pin it to your favorite chat if you use it often.
You're All Set!
Once connected, ChatGPT can search 18M+ items of podcasts, interviews, and talks. Try prompts like:
- • "Find recent podcast discussions about the Fed's interest rate decisions, with timestamps."
- • "What has Sam Altman said about AGI in the last 6 months? Quote the most-cited moments."
- • "Pull clips where founders discuss product-market fit and summarize the common themes."
What You Can Do
With Audioscrape connected, ChatGPT has access to these tools:
Search Podcasts
Full-text and semantic search across millions of transcribed episodes
Get Episode Content
Retrieve full transcripts, timestamps, and speaker information
Browse Recent Episodes
List latest episodes with filtering by date or podcast
Explore Podcasts
Browse episodes from specific podcast series
For tool parameters and JSON schemas, see the MCP Documentation.
Troubleshooting
I don't see Developer Mode in Settings → Connectors → Advanced
Developer Mode is only available on paid plans (Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise, or Edu). Free ChatGPT does not support custom MCP connectors. If you're on a Team or Enterprise workspace, your admin must first enable Developer Mode in Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles before individual users can see the toggle.
Audioscrape doesn't appear in the Developer Mode menu when I start a chat
The connector must be enabled per-conversation. Click the + icon in the composer, choose More → Developer mode, and select Audioscrape from the list. If it still doesn't appear, double-check the connector was saved correctly in Settings → Connectors.
Connection fails or I get an authentication error
Make sure you have an active Audioscrape account — if you're not signed in, sign in here first, then retry the connect flow from ChatGPT.
ChatGPT doesn't automatically use Audioscrape when I ask about podcasts
Make sure you've enabled the connector for the current chat (step 4 above). You can also nudge ChatGPT explicitly: "Use the Audioscrape tool to search for...". ChatGPT decides when to invoke MCP tools based on the connector's name and description — a clear description helps it pick the right tool more often.
How do I remove or update the connector?
Go to Settings → Connectors, find Audioscrape in your list, and select Remove from the connector's menu. To revoke Audioscrape's access from our side, open your Audioscrape account page.
