Hearing no response, I will just make an assumption that they are here to observe. So at this time, let's go ahead with opening statements. Mr. Metley, would you like to make an opening statement on behalf of the company?
Yes, Your Honor. Thank you. Again, I'd like to say good morning to you. I would like to begin by thanking staff today for their comprehensive review of the application in this matter and the recommendation that the application be approved. I'd also like to, again, thank Your Honor for accommodating us and pushing the hearing a couple of days. Much appreciated. On May 4th, 2026, Global Water Santa Cruz Water Company, I'll refer to them as either Global Water Santa Cruz or company, filed an application with the commission for approval to extend the company's CCNN to provide water service to a single customer. The extension area includes approximately 80 acres of land located off of Warren Road, north of Highway 238 in Pinell County, Arizona.
The 80 acre site is slated for a singular building along with an open modular storage facility. Wastewater service will be provided through an onsite privately maintained septic and leach field system. Global Water Santa Cruz is a class A utility. Pursuant to the application we filed, as of February 28, 2026, Global Water Santa Cruz provides water service to approximately 30,235 water connections in its certificated area. As of the end of June 2026, that number is 30,803 connections. The requested extension area is located immediately adjacent to applicants' existing service area and can be serviced by the Global Water Santa Cruz North Maricopa System. The company maintains a license agreement with the city of Maricopa and a franchise agreement with Pinal County for access to public roads and right-of-ways.
And, Your Honor, as an aside, staff has asked if the company could file a copy of the franchise agreement with Pinal County, and we'll be doing so as a late-filed Exhibit A-4. The company will provide water service to the proposed extension area under its current rates and charges approved by commission in decision number 78644, dated July 27th, 2022.
