The applicant next city networks arizona llc which I will refer to today is next city networks or the company is a delaware limited liability company and its sole member is next city networks holdings llc. Next city networks holdings llc is one hundred percent owned by next era energy capital holdings inc which is one hundred percent owned by next era energy inc. NextEra Energy Inc. is a New York Stock Exchange-traded Fortune 200 company headquartered in Juneau Beach, Florida, with a 100-year track record of providing utility service. In addition to the applicant, NextCity Networks Arizona, NextEra Energy Inc. owns Florida Power and Light Company, which is America's largest electric utility, serving approximately six million customer accounts, or more than 12 million people across the state of Florida.
Next City Networks Arizona is led by a team of experienced executives and managers with extensive backgrounds in telecommunications, infrastructure development, network operations, and utility scale project management. The company's leadership team brings significant expertise in planning, deploying, and operating critical infrastructure, as well as delivering reliable, high-quality services to commercial and institutional customers. In addition to its core management team, Next City Networks benefits from the operational, technical, and administrative support of its affiliates, including the resources of NextEra Energy, Inc., which employs approximately 18,000 professionals nationwide. THIS DEPTH OF EXPERIENCE AND ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT ENHANCES THE COMPANY'S ABILITY TO EFFICIENTLY DESIGN, CONSTRUCT, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN THE SERVICES IT WILL OFFER IN ARIZONA.
ON JUNE 10, 2025, NEXT CITY NETWORKS FILED AN APPLICATION IN THIS DOCKET SEEKING A CERTIFICATE OF CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY TO PROVIDE WHOLESALE TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES USING ITS OWN FACILITIES-BASED FIBER INFRASTRUCTURE. The company plans to deploy and operate multi-conduit fiber optic networks in Arizona, including underground and aerial fiber cable, fiber electronics and termination equipment, routing and switching equipment, and related supporting infrastructure. The company will provide intrastate multi-conduit fiber networks and lease dark and lit services to wholesale customers, including telecommunications carriers and internet service providers. These facilities will be constructed, owned, and maintained by Next City Networks Arizona.
