Item 68 is a motion to adopt resolution, the title of which is follows A resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County, Florida, supporting the right of the state of Israel to defend itself and its citizens against attack, supporting Israel's right to live in peace and security, supporting appropriate Israeli action to secure the safe return of the Israeli hostages, and providing for severability and an effective date.

This is a resolution supporting the right of the uh nation of Israel to defend itself. and take what unfortunately steps appear are are going to be occurring here. We've all seen wars, we've all seen skirmishes, uh, both in the Mid East and in other countries.

Very rarely have we seen attacks where women, children, the elderly are either or both murdered in their beds or taken hostage. It just you don't normally see the broad scale hostage taking that occurred in this case. There are horrific videos out there. I I am aware I am not stating that they are correct. I'm aware sometimes videos are fake today, but the videos of showing a an Israeli soldier being pulled from a tank and then dragged until he died with people stomping on his body as it went by are these are not things that are supposed to occur in civilized societies. Uh the uh we've seen, I don't know these are accurate, a video of a beheading of a captured Israeli soldier, and there certainly have been threats um the of killing the hostages.
