And we're bringing it down almost to a quiet roar. Ladies and gentlemen, please, thank you. Thank you. It's getting there. It's getting there. It works sometimes. Okay. So we have all of our commissioners here. I know Commissioner Bogan's gonna be a little running behind us. All right, great. Good morning. What a great day. It is in Brower County. It's a great day to call the order of the Brower County Board of County Commissioners this Tuesday, November fourteenth, two thousand and twenty-three. Oh about nine after ten A. M. We are so excited to be here today, especially we have a lot of awards to give out, a lot of thank yous to give out, a lot of proclamations to be part of. So thank you so much for being part of our commission meeting here this morning.
I'm gonna ask you now to please rise for a pledge of allegiance, followed by a moment of silence. And those who are celebrating their thirty-fifth year. with Broward County, you're gonna collectively lead us in the pledge. How's that? All the thirty five year folks, raise your hand. All right, so here we go.

the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, my nation. Yeah. And so that's just a lot. Do you ask that you remain seated standing, please, and this customary course that we observe a moment of silent honor of those notable persons in our community who have recently passed? I'm gonna go around the commission if they want to recognize anybody. Commissioner Rogers.
Thank you, Mr. Mayor. And I would like to recognize Brenda, Dr. Brenda Snipes, former supervisor of election group pass at the young age of 80. She will be missed for her services throughout Brown County as an educator and last area of service as our supervisor of election. Superior Supervisor of Election here in Brown County. Thank you.
Thank you. Center. Uh yes, Miss Mayor. Uh one of our former Florida Bar presidents, Jim Fox Miller, passed away recently and uh as of yet I don't know anything about funeral arrangements, but um obvious I knew his wife Barbara very well, but I also knew Jim very well through bar activities. Great guy and uh it's a loss to the state of Florida. Indeed. Commissioner Furr?
Thank you. Sadly I have a I have a few Um a f and I'm glad you mentioned Brenda first. And Jimmy. Uh Jimmy Miller, a lot of people know knew him. Uh he was the president of the bar. He was um Board member of the United Way and Bethel. And most of us know Barbara. Um his wife and I know you know we're thinking of her. But I I kinda I mean, when I first met him he was kinda gruff. You know, I wasn't quite sure how to how to take him. But he softened up quite a bit. And over the last few years I I had I had the pleasure of talking a lot of baseball and words with friends with him and just general uh politics and stuff. And probably a lot of people have read his column that he had on Facebook a lot for the last couple of years.
It was nice 'cause they had a chance to kind of reveal who he was and his take on life. And I think a lot of real people really appreciated what he said. Uh so we're gonna all we're gonna all miss Jimmy a lot. Um I think a lot of us also also knew Frank Lacanto. Um, who died a couple of weeks ago. Um He he'd actually written the he was a songster. Um before he wrote uh Bob Graham's s song, I think it was called Um Graham Crackers Too, that a lot of candidates used uh local and statewide. And he was a historian, but a lot of us knew him from Beacon TV, and I think you and I were on his panel a couple of times. I think I was on there with Tim a few times. Just a a fine gentleman. Um and for uh for a lot of people in Broward, that's how you found out who won and lost.
Exactly. You know, you tuned into his his uh station, and uh we're all gonna miss him, and my thoughts go out to Phyllis, his wife. Uh Dania Beach also lost a former commissioner, Bill Harris, um, just a few days ago.
