Thank you. Please remain standing. Ladies and gentlemen, it is customary that we observe a moment of silence. In honor of notable persons from our community who have recently passed. Colleagues, does anyone have anyone you wish to remember? Commissioner Rogers. Madam Mayor, colleagues, um there's a lady and her dad and sister that lost their family members, their members of the team Фром Сіаю ще вас урка вид. Help me please. I just m met her and I felt that it was timely because you would be acknowledging those that pass. I uh and they're in the room. Okay, so as we do our moment of silence, I wanted to recognize the family and colleagues. Okay, I I will add to that because I had that um uh they had asked me to to do this, so I will go ahead and do it at this moment.

This morning I would like to remember Monique Michelle Conley. Who was a loving mother, grandmother, and SEIU local thirty two BJ member? Monique was born on October twenty sixth, nineteen sixty five in Miami, Florida. to Willett Key and the late Mr Richard Conley. Monique's pride and joy were her grandchildren. Uh A Marion Conley, Zamarian Conley and Legend folk. and her only daughter. Brittany Conley. Monique loved shopping, traveling, baking, and spending time with her grandkids. Monique was also a proud union member of SEIU, local 32 BJ, who worked for over three years as a security officer at the Broward County Main Courthouse. She advocated in front of the Broward County Commission numerous times for herself and her co-workers for better wages, health care, and PTO.

Because of security officers like Monique in Broward County. The county will continue to be a safer and fairer place to work. the funeral or the Shiva for Susie Levan. Um I know Commissioner Udin was there as well. It was almost a state funeral. Um th I don't know how many people were there. I couldn't count. I'm estimating five or six hundred, but could easily have been more. Um there was no place to park for anywhere around there. If they wanted parking they should have done it at the convention center. There were so many people there. And it was amazing hearing one strong woman leader after another, after another, after another, stand up to eulogize Susie. Uh Alan and I have been friends for I don't know, half a dozen years. We go to lunch a lot, but over the last couple of years, uh Susie, Alan and my wife Laurel and I have gone to dinner many times and a number of times and

Uh it was a huge loss. Susie was born in uh Havana, Cuba. Uh she was the I believe second or third employee in Allen's first publicly traded company and was an indispensable person at his side the entire um Journey and all of his companies. She was an absolutely incredible leader in her own right. And if you saw the two of them together, um, for the last thirty five years or so, it's been an incredible love affair between the two of them. Um I said she was an incredible leader in her own right, whether as helping Alan over at uh Nova. uh forming the Susie and Alan B. Levant, Nova Southeastern University Ambassadors Board, the NSU Fellow Society, the Levant Center.
