This is a county board of County Commissioners meeting of Tuesday, february eleventh, twenty twenty five. If everybody would please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Would you remain standing, please? Um it is customary that we observe a moment of silence in honor of notable persons from our community who have recently passed. And let me start over in this side.

Thank you. I would like to recognize the passing of a dear friend, former elected official at Southwest Ranches a tonight. He passed away at two o'clock on yesterday and just wanted to offer my condolences to everyone that has worked with him. Because I know you guys are struggling today like I am. He's an awesome friend and strong community advocate. So may his soul rest in peace. Thank you.
Okay. Nan, do you think okay? Um let us honor all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces, both here and abroad, and thank them for their service. And if you'll pause for a moment a moment of silence.
Thank you. Please take your seats. Wanna welcome everyone to the meeting today. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. And just as a reminder, uh today's joint workshop on commuter rail was cancelled at Fort Lauderdale's request, and we're gonna move on to the meeting, but first something very special. Senator Gallery. Thank you for the biggest. Tell us about your your band here. Thank you, Mr. Mayor. Um Today has been the latest uh Performance in what we've started calling the Geller series because I am the County Commission representative to the Cultural Council. And um when each Commissioner gets to choose music, I always go with live music. The one criteria is that they have to be funded by the Broward County Cultural Commission.
Um and uh I use this as an opportunity to showcase the tremendous talent that we have here in Broward. And um I'm pleased to um do this. I'd like today we have a all brass um composition, uh a wonderful performance brought by the symphon Symphony of the Americas. uh our musicians performing today are Michael Hankins on Trumpet, Gabriel Gutierrez Rivas on Trumpet, Jeffrey Chapman on Horn, Gilberto Cruz on trombone, Calvin Jenkins on Tuba under the leadership of Stephen Haynes, their executive director. They'll be playing one piece. I would also like to give special thanks to Phil Dunlap, the director of the Broward County Cultural Division, and his assistant Ava Stringfellow for helping to coordinate today's performance now.

Thank you so much. Again, uh thank you for having us, Senator Geller. Um Stephen Haynes, Executive Director of Symphony Americas. Mayor Firm, Commissioners, Director Dunlap, uh thank you so much for the support you provide to the cultural arts in this county. At a time when the state and we are seeing cuts at the federal level as well, uh what you are doing as a county is second to none. And on behalf of my entire organization, our musicians, our board of directors, and our audiences that come, as well as the kids who From these incredible musicians, I want to thank you for what you do. We have not just a local impact from schools to our neighborhoods, but also a global impact where even our music director, Pablo Mialgo, conducted the 75th anniversary of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland last year.
And our new Pops conductor uh conducted the closing gala ceremony of the 75th anniversary of NATO in Washington, D.C.
