Good morning, everybody. Uh this is the Broward County Board of County Commissioners meeting of Tuesday, May twentieth, twenty twenty five. Exciting day here in Broward County with the Uh with the cats? Getting ready to go? Panthers. Cats, baby. Cats. You can call it cats, you can call it panthers. Um with that let's uh please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance. And I would like if Linda Covert and Ronnie Eaton uh would if they are in here today, if they would uh join us and lead the Pledge of Allegiance for us. Is Linda here? She's not is Ronnie is. Ronnie is Ronnie, come on down. Come on.
She let the auditor stand in for Linda. You said he was gonna do it. I know, I know.
Ronnie Ronnie has served the Broward County for forty years as of today.
Ronnie, if you could s start us off.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Amen.
Thank you, Ron. Appreciate it. With that please remain standing. Sorry about that. Um it is customary that we observe a moment of silence in honor of notable persons from our community who have recently passed. Colleagues, does anyone have someone you'd wish to remember? And I'll start up here.

Let me see if I'm gonna be acknowledging the right person.

Yes. The Honorable Reverend Dr. Matthew J. Meadows. Former State Senator. And representative from Okay. And I say former state senator, he I took his place in the house. He endorsed me out of many. And so you know this is. Tough and let me just confess I knew of the funeral date. I just did not put it on my calendar. And I missed it. So I'm just I can't get over it. There's no excuse, sir, but I just wanted to say that. He's a dedicated public servant. He's a pastor also, serving with distinction in the Florida Senate from 1992 to 1998, and later in the Florida House from 2000 to 2008. Representing district ninety four. We extend our deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Charlie, Charlie May. Harris, their children, Matthew, Felicia, Debbie
Tommy and Priscilla and all those who have met and his life touch yours. And of course I have another one, a good friend of mine, Herman Her mom passed. We honor the life of Ida Elizabeth Storkash. A cherished daughter, devoted wife, loving mother, beloved friend, born february nineteen thirty one, a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theatre. sorority, Ida remained a devoted and active Member of the Sisterhood for seventy-five years, embodying the values of scholarship service and of giving back. She transitioned into school counselling, joined the staff. Her legacy will endure through the many lives she has touched and the lessons she imparted, teaching us how to live with purpose, to love with intention and to walk with dignity and grace.
And we just stand and recognize both at this time. I thank you.
