Here we are. Good morning. Okay, good morning everybody. This is the Broward County Commission's meeting. This is Broward County Commission meeting of December 10th, 2024. And if you would please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance. Thank you. And seeing as how it is our newest commissioner's birthday, if you would lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. America and to

and
justice
for all.
Thank you. If you'd remain standing, please. It's a time where we customarily observe a moment of silence in honor of notable persons from our community who have recently passed, and I'll start with our newest commissioner. Commissioner Davis? Anybody? No? Okay. Okay. Commissioner Lamar?
Commissioner McKenzie? I am Commissioner Lamar now, right?

You were hiding over there. I didn't
see. I
just recognized one of our HOA presidents from the Sweden Estates Association, Mr. Russell, 94 years young, passed away. He was a giant person in the community, and we just want to recognize him in this moment of silence. Thank you.
Thank you, Mayor. Just a couple of folks. We lost a giant of a leader in our community, and Dr. Robert Bob Parks passed away November 29th. And those who know Dr. Parks, former school board member from 86 to 2010. He taught in Broward County Public School System for 17 years, and of course at Pompano Beach and Boyd Anderson High School. And most famous what Dr. Parks did is he led the charge of reopening the Pompano Beach High School, which is now a very, very highly successful school. And just before he retired, the city of Coconut Creek named the high school The Track, after Dr. Park. So please remember Linda in your prayers. And then lastly, a longtime public servant at Pompano, Reagan Yarborough, passed away, who led our zoning department for many, many years in Pompano and was instrumental in doing a complete rewrite
of the entire code. So he truly will be missed. So pray for his family as well. Thank you, Mayor.

Okay. With that, let us honor all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces, both here and abroad, and thank them for their service. And if you'll take a moment of silence, please.

I want to welcome everybody to the meeting today. This is my first chance as mayor again. It's great. Looking forward to it. Thank you. But before we get into anything else, I want to acknowledge Commissioner Rogers. She wants to very briefly bring some other folks up who made the Cricket World Cup possible. So Commissioner Rogers, you have the floor.
Good morning, everyone. Good morning, colleague, and happy birthday to you. Good, good, good. There's a party going on someplace
later on. You know that,
right? But I am... Oh, they're here. Okay, it is indeed my honor and privilege as we continue to promote Broward, continue to promote cricket here in Broward County, to welcome the team that will be playing this afternoon at 1 o'clock at our facility. And for me, that is just awesome. They could have opted to do it elsewhere. So we thank... Mr. Qureshi, he is the CEO and chairman for Cricket Council USA for bringing the team that is here.
