I said. Uh fifth anniversary. Of the passing of Wilton Manor's mayor, Justin Flippin. who died on February twenty fifth. Uh twenty twenty. Five years ago today. He was an amazing human being. A loyal friend. True patriot. And I was so happy to have had the opportunity to work with him during his lifetime. When Justin was elected mayor of Wilton Manors in twenty eighteen It marked the first time in Florida's history. She's that every member of a single city commission was a member of the LGBTQ community. Justin was instrumental in helping us complete the affordable housing project for seniors. Which is so successful today, call residences at Equality Park for Seniors. There's so much to say about the short forty one year lives of this man's life.

He was a proud member of the Broward County family. He served as a commission aide to Stacy Ritter. before joining the counties convention. And visitors bureau. Where he remained until his untimely death. He was a dear friend and mentor to my chief of staff, Harrison Grand Williams. I think we can all aspire to follow his example as someone who considered himself a public servant, not a politician. Who had exhibited incredible kindness and patience. Who love the state of Florida and the United States of America. We will miss Justin. But he will be in our thoughts and our prayers. As will his family. Um and his memory will live on. Next um I would just like to mention. The shattering and heart wrenching loss.

Uh uh Some Israeli hostages that returned last week. Uh not alive. Three of them. Um Ariel and um Kafir Bebas were Nine months old and four years old. Respectively when Hamas abducted them from their home October seventh. twenty twenty three. Shira Bebas, the mother's uh the boy's mother. Was supposed to be have been returned and laid to rest with them, but unfortunately Originally it was not her body that was sent. Uh fortunately that has been corrected. Also O dead. Um was a a man of eight eighty three years. When H Hamas kidnapped him. He was a great grandfather. A lifelong peace activist. who regularly transported patients from Gaza. to receive medical care. in Israeli hospitals. Ariel, four year old, had a shy, sweet smile and loved Batman.

He and his lovely baby brother Kafir had beautiful fiery red hair. Their father Yarden, who was released from captivity a few weeks before. Is the sole survivor of his family. I would just ask us to keep that family. and these children and their mother in our prayers. Thank you.

Thank you, Mr. Mayor colleagues. Um A member of the Florida Senate, Geraldine Thompson. And my colleague when I was in the house died on February thirteenth, twenty She served in various capacities in the Florida legislature from 2006 until her death in 2025. May her soul rest in peace. On February 19th, the first United Church of Jesus Christ Apollote in Lauderdale Lakes lost a stalwart. Ward in Bishop Isaac Scott, Lady Ethel, friends, family and the entire community will certainly miss this leader and giant in our community. I just ask that we continue just to think about those that are sick also, and we are hoping that Peace will continue, love will continue as we celebrate the life and the legacy of those who have passed.
