Today is April 28th, and I would like to ask everybody to first to please rise for our Pledge of Allegiance, and then please remain standing after that. And I'd like to ask somebody that we're going to call our new Mr. GQ, Lamar Fisher, to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America

Please remain standing. It's customary that we observe a moment of silence in honor of the notable persons in our community who've recently passed. So I'm going to go around the dais and ask if anybody wants to be recognized. Mr. GQ? Stop that. You know, our supervised elections, Joe Scott presented a Purple Heart to the family members of Corporal Joshua Carruth, and they found his remains after 50-something years or whatever it was, and he actually was born in Deerfield and raised in Pompano. So I just wanted to recognize his family in prayer, if you would. Thank you.

Robert Hughes, local photographer a lot of us know from the community, taking community pictures, was with me last Wednesday for the 100th birthday party for Mrs. Gurley at the nursing home here in the 1300 block of Andrews. And on yesterday morning, he was found on the floor of his home deceased. So I just want to send my prayers out to that family. A lot of folks in this, Dale Holders and others, know who I'm talking about, Robert Hughes, the photographer. ROBERT HUGHES JR. : Senator Rich? OK. Also, let us also honor all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces, both here and abroad. Thank them for their service. And I'd like to pause for a moment of silence.

So our next proclamation is going to be presented to the United States Small Business Administration. Ms. Harris, Deputy District Director, South Florida District Office, will you please come on down to the podium? As well as the Broward County Small Business Development Advisory Board.

And whereas small business owners are risk-takers, pioneers, and hard workers who anchor our local economy from Main Street storefronts to cutting-edge startups and contribute to our shared prosperity.
