Okay, good morning, everyone. today's Tuesday May 12 2026 welcome to the Broward County Board Commissioners meeting I'd like to ask everyone to please rise for a Pledge of Allegiance and afterwards please remain standing and I'm going to ask our honorable Shane Strom to lead us today in our Pledge of Allegiance I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. If you could remain standing. It's customary that we observe a moment of silence and honorable of notable persons from our community who have recently passed. And I'll go around the desk. Start with the left side. Commissioner Rogers.

Mr. Fisher. I just want to recognize Congressman Larry Smith passed away. He was obviously a big part of our community and serving us well and be with Grant and his family in prayer. Thank you. And the same thing, Larry was from Hollywood and was involved for many, many years with on all kinds of levels, a real family man. I actually had a chance to play golf with him and his kids a bunch of times. Just a good guy that just for many, many years has been a part of the political circles here and has always tried to do some good stuff. So I don't know if he'll be missed. Vice Mayor McKenzie is on line. Good morning. No, I don't have any mayor and commissioners. Thank you, Vice Mayor.

I also would like to mention Larry Smith, I worked with him for many, many years, long before I came to elected office, when I was going to Tallahassee and Washington, working on the same kinds of issues I work on here. And we always met with him because he was always there to support human services and civil rights and Israel, many of the things that the community cared about. And I also want to mention at the funeral just to say that there's something about a person when you can see how his grandchildren stood up there and talked about him and the kind of relationship that he—caring, loving, amazing relationship that he had with them was very moving.

So he will be missed. I can't believe I forgot to mention Larry, since I had to change my plans. I was supposed to be out of town, and I changed my plans to be at his funeral. At-Larry and I went to the same temple. I've known Larry-I knew Larry for many, many years. We actually overlapped in office. I was elected in 88, and he left office in 92. So we overlapped in the same area. We had the same constituents for four years.
