Uh we have uh some interesting things. Happening in this afternoon's conference meeting. We're very excited about some of the discussions that we'll be having. So why don't we begin? Let me first state that business one is going to be postponed to two forty-five, date certain. We have a gentleman from the Miami um tunnel, Chris Hodgkins, who's coming here to speak and participate in that discussion.

Good afternoon, Mayor Commission. Chris Cooper, Director of the Development Services Department. It's nice to see you all today. So, what we're going to present is an overview of a public outreach effort that really focuses on what the Hemmershee Street Corridor is today, some of the opportunities it presents, and what it could look like in the future. So we've heard from various stakeholders, you know, for some time along Hemershead Street that it's time to reinvent. envision the corridor and take advantage of some of the amenities as well as some of the proposed development that that's um that's taking place in the future nearby. As an initial step, we conducted a robust stakeholder outreach effort to understand individual interests as well as identify areas of consensus.
Chris Cooper 1:55
And today we're going to present that information to you. So I'm going to introduce Fabian de la Espriella, who is our consultant that we brought on to spearhead and coordinate the effort.
Javian de la Espriella 2:06
Very good, thank you. Thank you, Chris. Good afternoon. Um, everyone, my name is Javian de la Espriela, I am founding principal With Urbez Studio. It's a small community planning firm out of Miami. Like Chris said, we want to report back on these outreach efforts that we've advanced over these last few months around the Himarshi area. So the overall intent of this initiative was to conduct some outreach to incorporate some public input into the early planning phase of these. Revitalization plan, learn about stakeholders' concerns and priorities for the area, identify opportunities to enhance and revitalize the area, and obtain input about desired next steps. And so our timeline in terms of milestones, we we really had stakeholder one-on-one discussions that started back in October.
Javian de la Espriella 3:04
2023. We hosted an open house event in November. Um, and then we started a documentation of uh the process and findings, and we presented a draft report to the um to staff for uh review and comment in January, and we wrapped up um that process, and we're here reporting back on our uh findings. So, in terms of the Engagement process. We just wanted to note that we we hosted um stakeholder engagement through one-on-one discussions. We had a splash page connected linked to the city's website, which had a digital comment map, and we also had an open house event where we wanted to obtain that input from residents and business owners. And so the the open house event uh was held on um Monday. November 13th.
Javian de la Espriella 3:56
Um, we really did a communications strategy. We worked with the communications department and we advertised uh on the city's website, Facebook, Nextdoor, LinkedIn, Instagram, all the channels, and we had um about 47 individuals showed up. Um, it was a very successful uh turnout, and we were happy to hear uh a lot of the input and observations for. folks had. These are some of the images from from the event last November. So, in terms of what we heard, um, we wanted to to share some of the insights that that we received through the conversations with stakeholders and the the takeaways that there were some themes that were common through these conversations, reflecting an understanding and of the challenges and opportunities in the area.
