Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the city commission conference meeting. This uh April sixteenth, one day after IRS Day. It's still April fifteenth, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah. So today we have um a number of items on our conference agenda and for those of you who are here for the first time, this is essentially an opportunity for the city commission to uh engage with staff to talk about various issues. We don't vote on anything in particular, but we do have the opportunity to direct staff on uh items that are of interest to the community as well as the commission. Uh at the beginning we have uh on the agenda communications to the city commission and these communications are um from the advisory boards.
In this particular case, the first one we have from the Northwest Progressive Flagla Heights. Um Flagler Heights, uh redevelopment advisory board. And uh They have uh asked us to um for a joint meeting, which I think would be appropriate. Um Uh Mr City Manager, do you think you could uh try to connect the s commission and the uh the advisory board on a mutually agreeable date?
You
would think you could find an appropriate date on which both the commission and the advisory board can meet. Maybe we could do a workshop before uh an upcoming commission meeting?
Certainly. I'll be working with uh those uh board chairs and uh and the clerk to arrange a date.
You know, I think we should also consider having a joint meeting with the uh the charter review board. Um with the with the election coming up soon. I know that they're gonna have recommendations they wanna present to us and I think that um we should probably schedule something like that also so that we can hear so we could hear exactly what their recommendations are and maybe even give them some uh ideas to what we would like them to discuss. with the community going forward. Yes.
Mayor, I I actually had um requested that back in November. I know. I've been asking for that a long time and I think the last word that we got was that Charter Revision would meet with us in May. That was the last thing I remember them telling us. Uh we have we have been requesting that for like six months.
Okay, so th let's make that happen then.

Um we had at the last charter review meeting the board put together a summary package and so that's being finalized with legal and then we're going to send it under under a covered memo memo to you and also talk about when we can have the um the workshop which is
in
May.
Let's just let's just have it let's just have it. This is our last meeting for April anyway, so um let's just plan to have it in May. Because there are a number of uh items I wanna make sure that uh that the Charter that the Charter Review Board does consider and does reach out to the community to talk about. For example, um You know, this commission a number of years ago decided to go to November elections instead of March. I'd like to know how the community thinks about that. Is it better? Is it worse? Is it something we need to change or should we keep it in place? Um we also talked about donation amounts. Should that change? Should that should uh has has that worked out for the community? Things like that that were charter changes uh several years ago.
I'd like to know, you know, a little bit like get an update. as to how the community feels about those changes that we made. Just some examples. Okay. All right. Will do. Let's see, okay. Um The second one is the cemetery system board. Um The cemetery system board wants to uh I don't know whether they want to meet with us or just have the city commission discuss opportunities for buying more land to establish more cemeteries.
