Uh we have uh quite a few uh topics for discussion that are very exciting about what's going on in our city. So I want to thank you all for being here today. Um and uh a couple changes on the agenda, the neighborhood present the neighbor presentation by Dr. Felix Rivera Marion. will not be heard tonight. He's asked that if he could come at at a different time, so he won't be attending tonight. So our first order of business is C Broward Commuter Rail South update. Commission District Four. um give us an update. Absolutely good afternoon. Milos Mistorovich, Acting Director for Cities Transportation and Mobility Department. Today we have uh staff from Florida Department of Transportation and also uh Brouwer County uh to provide us with an update uh for related to Brouwer commuter rail south project. Uh it is about ten minute presentation followed by any questions that you might have. And at this point I will turn it over to Miss Cory Kough Lonergun, who is uh director Transportation for Brouwer County. Great, thank you so much.

We're really excited to bring uh to you uh a quick overview. We we understand we have ten minutes and we take that very seriously uh of the uh Broward Commuter Rail South project. Um we've been working very closely with our colleagues in Miami. They have the Northeast Corridor. Our intent is to join them very quickly uh and open up that uh extension so that we have service from Fort Lauderdale into Miami Dade on the Florida East Coast Railroad. So I'm really glad to be here today. Thank you so much for your time. Joining me today is Phil Schwab. Phil's gonna give the overview and also Gia Bian, who is our uh um project manager from the county. So um thank you again and glad to see everybody.

All right, so I'm gonna go through this very quick. I know a lot of you are familiar with the project, so I don't wanna uh belabor too many points. Uh just I I gotta touch on the history 'cause the the corridor itself has a long history where The department had planning studies going back twenty years now, eighty-five miles of track on the on the FEC, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami Day. Miami Dave was able to start moving forward a couple years before Broward. Broward's entered an agreement with the FDOT. That's why FDOT is leading the study. Uh but it's a county project, so in twenty twenty one that was executed. We went through lots of efforts to try and get the entire county done, but uh at at some point we had to move forward and and everyone was very supportive of the B CR South project, so that's what this update is about.

Uh we've entered into project development with FTA. We're a small starch project, they're very supportive of the project and really up and down the line we've gotten a lot of support from everybody. So the PD and E is just one step. There's a lot more steps to go. Design, construction. operations and maintenance. PD and E is the F D O T F D O T term, but it really is the process F D O T uses to meet the NEPA guidelines. And we have to meet the NEPA guidelines to get federal funding.
