We have a fairly short program this afternoon, but there could be a good deal of discussion on s a few of the items. So um for those of you who are here for the first time, uh welcome and we appreciate your listening and participating in in today's uh conversations. So the first thing on the uh on the afternoon agenda is uh communications to the City Commission. And the we have one communication and that's from the uh Charter Revision Board. The communication it's a motion made by uh Mr. Weiss. Seconded by uh Miss Svertig. Uh requesting direction for public input. What public input looks like, issues left for review and whether work be limited to the original memos uh or charter reviewed page by page.

And a roll call vote was passed unanimously. I have several people signed up to speak on this. Is there someone from the uh Charter Revision Board that uh would like to talk to us a little bit about what this communication means? Is there anyone from the is the chair here? No.

You're the only one present from that board. As far as I can tell you, I don't see any other member of that board here. Okay, go ahead. Uh any thoughts.

For those of you that um maybe haven't had the opportunity to review the last Charter Revision Board meeting. There was an extensive conversation that took about an hour and a half. We talked about what happened at the meeting with us, where we've been, where we're going. Um uh the importance of public outreach. Uh the board feels like I guess they need more direction as to what public outreach is. Um the chair of the board feels that there's been more than enough adequate public outreach because we have taped meetings and we went to the Council of Civic Associations. But truthfully, there hasn't been enough public outreach. I think we know that from the community and what people are saying. So Uh we're here to find out.

What you think we should do for You know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, what what's the thing? Yeah, a lot of people have reached out to me and said, you know, there's also talk about well, charter revision's really boring. I think Mayor Herbst talked about nobody really cares about it, or they don't understand it. You know, they don't attend. But the truth of the matter is a lot of people that are active, newer, younger people that haven't been involved but want to be involved, they don't know what charter revision is. They don't know that it's our constitution. They don't know the importance of it. And we just haven't done a good enough job probably as a city as well as a board.

All right. So so the infrastructure task force when we assign them the task of coming back to us with advice on the uh Uh. ideas regarding the new city hall. They went out and they uh had uh workshops one in each district I believe and they got public feedback, they advertised it. Um uh and and I think they understood that was public outreach. Is that something that you feel that your board could entertain if uh if if uh we Continue this process and and and the public outreach be secured through that method. Is that something you feel your board could take on?

Well I can't speak for the board because I wasn't. But personally I think that's what needs to be done so that everybody not only feels like a part of this process, they understand the importance of it. You can imagine if we put something on the agenda that said Please come to this meeting regarding charter revision or considering a strong mayor form of government.
