Uh this is our first uh conference meeting since we took our break uh back in early July and we have a number of items in which to discuss this afternoon. And um see a number of people have signed up to speak on different items. So why don't we begin then with the communications? We have several communications. First from the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. Uh is there someone here representing that? Lynn, are you representing the uh the committee?

Um Yes, I'm on the I'm the chair of the affordable housing committee and the homeless committee that's been going now for about a year had asked if we could get together to have a joint meeting 'cause they're really un trying to understand What we're doing within our committee and I think we would benefit from knowing what they perceive the needs to be, so we just asked for a joint meeting so that we could

My name is Edward Catalano. I'm the president of the South Middle River Civic Association. Uh we have some information for you all that I would like to give To uh why don't you give it to the clerk and he can just yeah. I would like to do that. Okay. What is the information about? Okay, this is about Hope South Florida. So tell us a little bit about why you're here today. Okay. Uh we've written a letter to the city. concerning some of the the problems that we're having. with Hope South Florida and included in that package is some pictures. of some of the activities that have occurred. On the property at eleven and Andrews Avenue. And uh we're really concerned because There is a lot of people milling around in that area.
It is not uh well supervised for the people when they have the meals and different activities at the location. And that's a big problem because they end up sticking around the neighborhood after they've eaten. And uh there have been many different situations. where people have been either uh held up Or uh had other activities that they've witnessed Someone in a tree. Looking into someone else's house from that property. Um, that's just one of the different things that we've called the police about. Um we have a problem with the mobile showers. and also uh the um porta potties that they have on this property as well. Uh this is a problem that We're hoping that We have uh code involved with it. And Code is looking into that.
There is a hearing at the end of the month. of which we're going to present this information as well. so that they can see exactly what has been going on at this location. It's not a good situation, unfortunately. uh because of lack of uh the communications between the organization and the neighbours. And we like to get that straightened out as well. So This has been going on for a long time. Yes, it has. It's not just this year or last year for years. No, this has been going on since twenty seventeen. And um
And You've had communications with the organisation. And what has been their response?
Well, they'll yes us to death and they'll do nothing. We've asked them for moving some of the feedings to another location in the same property. They can't do that, according to them. They they don't want to they they will tell us that hey we're going in the originally in twenty seventeen they said they were gonna have one feeding a week. Now it's every almost every day and twice a day.
Well actually that's a good thing that they're able to provide feedings to homeless people that often But the problem is Um their the supervision and necessary in order to maintain the integrity of the neighborhood. Right. That uh 'cause this is not the only place where this happens by the way. Um that we we've had complaints from other feeding locations as well that the same kind of
