Welcome to the City Commission conference meeting this uh September seventeenth. Uh thank you all for being here. We appreciate it. Number of uh really, really interesting items we're gonna be able to talk about this afternoon. And uh Um It's a gray day out there, so what better place to be but city commission meeting? So um Let us begin uh with our communications to the city, the infrastructure infrastructure task force advisory committee. Is there anyone here to represent that uh task force?

How are historic preservation and infrastructure funding recommendations presented?

Uh there was a motion made by the Vice Chair, Peter Partington, with regard to recommends funding for the updating utility strategic master plan in the twenty twenty five budget. I believe that's been contained in the twenty twenty five budget.

Susan Grant 0:49

Yeah, in the water and sewer budget there's three million dollars for that strategic plan.

Okay. So we have already responded to that and we have taken care of that. Uh the uh historic preservation s uh the historic preservation board, the city of Fort Lauderdale As um there are two motions that were made. One was with regard to um historic properties. um that may be demolished in the future recommends that the city identify a space on the current side of the police department, uh to separate it out and create like a uh a little village or a village green in which um um historic properties, homes can can be relocated and um and create a a set of attraction to um to that area as we can consider building um some kind of housing project on that same site. And then um There's a recommendation that uh that the bark site be um used as a public garden.

But who owns the bark site? I thought that was the county, right?

So we could certainly send that recommendation over to them. I think the county is looking to build something on there like affordable housing, but who knows when that will take place. But I believe It's been handed out to all of us the the recommendation regarding the uh historic homes relocation project. And um At your leisure, please please look through this. Sounds like an interesting idea. Um any questions with regard to that? There being none. And then finally the Fire Rescue Advisory Committee. Uh s I understand it's a moot point at this point. Uh Mr. Brown is here to uh represent the committee, but I understand that the recommendation has now been fulfilled. So um so we appreciate uh the committee moving forward on that.

Oh great. Um so good afternoon and thank you to Mayor Trantalis, Vice Mayor Glassman. And Commissioners Herbst, Beasley Pittman and Sturman. And to uh Susan Leon. For the opportunity pr to present a collaborative initiative to you today between the Xavier Cortada Foundation. and the Brouwer Zier Group junior team. to increase climate change awareness and empower our youth to fight for their future. My name is Elisa Jones and I am the Vice Chair of the Broward Sierra Group. I'm here today representing our junior team members as they are in school, working hard and getting good grades, of course. Uh but I have their express permission to speak for them on this occasion. So just a little bit about the CR club and our uh junior team.
