Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome to the City Commission Conference meeting this January seventh, uh, twenty twenty-five. This is our first meeting of the new year. So thank you for being here. And uh we have a number of items on this afternoon's agenda. Um but just for reference purposes, business two, I'm told, is going to be removed from the agenda. So if anyone's here regarding business two, uh that will be now that will now be heard on January twenty second at the conference meeting on that date. So Um the twenty seconds on a Wednesday and we moved that over because of the Martin Luther King holiday. So Um so again, business two is going to be removed from the agenda today and will be heard at the next meeting.
Um moving forward, we have uh one communication from the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. Uh motion was made by Mr. Condon uh requesting a joint workshop. Um Is there an opportunity to to to do that? Um, Susan?
Yeah, we have the calendars pretty wide open except for budget workshops. So um staff will work with them on finding a a date that works.

Commissioner Beasley Pittman, you're still on that committee, right? Yes I am. Yeah. Okay, very good. All right. So business one. International Swimming Hall of Fame Phase One Update. Who's gonna
And Ben Rogers is gonna make the update.
Mr. Rogers. Uh good afternoon, Mayor Commission, Ben Rogers acting assistant city manager. Uh happy twenty twenty five to all of you. Uh today uh we're gonna focus on the phase one update for the International Swimming Hall of Fame. So there's multiple phases for this project, uh, but today we're gonna talk about phase one, which it's focused on the new seawall and the construction of the ocean ocean rescue headquarters and the demolition of the east building. There's future phases, the construction of the west building, the east building, and then the water docks and site work. Uh all of those updates I plan On coming back to the commission in either March or April and sharing those updates with the Commission at that time.
So today we're just gonna focus on the seawall and the ocean rescue headquarters. So the seawalls, uh you know, this is in alignment with the commission's vision and and their goals, priorities to you know bolster the infrastructure of the city. Uh combo com combined with the Las Oles Marina, uh Bahia Mar, and Iishhoff there's You know, hundreds of linear feet of seawall improvements being made on the barrier island. Um this one has approximately fourteen hundred linear feet, about a ten million dollar price tag, and it is replacing the seawall all the way around the entire peninsula. The Ocean Rescue Headquarters is a seventy six hundred square foot building. It will have office space storage uh an aquatic center rooftop viewing area.
Um it is moving forward through the process. We'll talk about the timelines in a little bit, but the DRC submission was our was submitted last month, at the end of last month. Um it does require a D uh DRC administrative review, which does not require that it comes back to the city commission for approval. Well some of the renderings uh for the Ocean Rescue Building. Uh again, just want to show the profile and how it aligns with the entire complex vision. Um it's that building right behind the dive tower. There's two different concepts at this point. The the one on the left is an op open rooftop terrace. Uh the second one has a closed rooftop for some shade. Um if the commission has any preference or feedback on that, um it'd be helpful to get that today.
Uh obviously there's some costs associated with with With um the covered portion, but there's also a lot of benefits uh from the weather and the elements. So I don't know, Mayor, if the the Commission has any feedback on
