Let us begin. Uh good morning everybody. Welcome to the joint uh meeting of the infrastructure task force and the city commission of Fort Lauderdale. Uh this is the Fourth day of June, twenty twenty four. Thank you all for being here. First of all, let me apologize to the task force for the kind of weird setup we have here. I I I really apologize for that. Um, is it possible that you all can I don't know, do you are you more comfortable there than up front? Okay, y you're good? Okay. All right. Um so uh Uh all right. So Commissioner Herbst has indicated he's decided not to attend this meeting and uh we'll hopefully see uh Commissioner Sturman soon. So uh since we have a quorum on the commission, uh but I'll first l ask the um the clerk to call the role of the commission so we can begin.

Good morning, members of the Commission. I'm gonna call the role of my committee and I'm gonna ask them to stand up. Uh can I have um uh Gregory Barnett please stand up? Martha Rasica. Martha? Roosevelt Waters. James LeBrie. Shane Shane's not here. Oh Ralph's not here, Peter Mike Lambex. And Gerald and Jones. And of course me. So we have a quorum.

Great, thank you so much. Uh before we begin, um I want to thank the infrastructure infrastructure task force for taking on this task of helping the city, the community, reimagine City Hall. Um it was unfortunate that we lost the operational aspects of the city hall building that's now being dismantled. And uh certainly put us in a very difficult situation and uh I wanna say thank you for stepping up to the plate. I know it took a lot of your personal hours to participate in this effort. And I also want to thank the community for participating in the uh area workshops that you that you hosted throughout the last several months to help get uh community feedback as to um what the community is interested in seeing and doing with regard to uh its future city hall.

Thank you very much. Um good uh good after good morning ish members of the Commission and Mayor. Uh in August of twenty twenty three, the Infrastructure Task Force Advisory Committee was asked by the Fort Lauderdale City Commission to help them, quote, find a path forward to replace City Hall. The Commission asked us for two things recommended principles for them to consider when deciding on a new City Hall and to gather public input. To do that, we embarked upon a joint project with the city staff and a consultant called Reimagining City Hall. As part of our work, we did an extensive public outreach. The City Office of Management and Budget, the Strategic Communications Office, and Deget Consulting helped us to design this effort.

Together, we presented the information to the public in mailings, email notices, surveys, and on social media. A dedicated city website was created to solicit, publish, and document all of the public input. Five workshops were held, one in each city. Commission District, the infrastructure task force meetings where we discussed the results of each workshop, were live streamed and viewed by many people. We are grateful to all of them for their assistance, and we are especially grateful to the people who attended the and participated in the workshops. Despite all of our efforts, they only represented a statistically small portion of the city's residents. However, they were enthusiastic and engaged. Yeah.

Documentation of the public outreach effort and the staff survey is available in a separate report, and that would be business two tonight this afternoon. So, having been informed by the public input and our own discussions, we submit this report. We are mindful that the city is planning for a facility for the next 50 years, and it will not be like the one that served us for the past 50.
