And welcome to the City Commission uh evening meeting this November seventh, twenty twenty three. Thank you all for being here tonight. Um I see our um fellow Commissioners will still b still be rolling in. Um for those of you who are here for the first time, welcome. I'd just like you to know that we begin our meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance. And then uh we have various announcements and uh and and of course we have presentations. Presentations are uh an opportunity for our community and the Commission to recognize certain individuals or organizations or events that are important to the community overall. So if I could please ask you all to rise and join Ryan Bellamy from Virginia Schumann Young Elementary School, who is going to lead us off tonight with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Sorry. Oh my God. Sorry. James Williams of Parks and Rec that he just said passed away. So uh That's the Carl, he's alive. He's alive. Stand up, Carl. He's alive. He's alive. He's alive. That's a lot. I was gonna say that's the shortest tenure anyone's ever had as a director of Parks and Art.

And also Dr. Brenda Snipes, who also passed away, she was our supervisor of election for I think ten years, I believe. And uh so please take this moment of silence.

Thank you. Uh so I'd like to take this moment also and congratulate the new um some new folks who have gotten promotions in our city and uh a new addition to our community our on our dais. First of all I'd like to congratulate our new police chief, Mr uh now Chief Bill Schultz. Mr Schulz has been with our department for twenty seven years? Long time. And and uh thank you so much for accepting the role and uh we know you'll continue to keep us safe. And also Mr Carl Williams, uh who is now the new director of uh Marks and Recreation. And also I'd like to uh acknowledge and welcome Mr Thomas Ansborough, who's new our new city attorney.

We have full attendance, we have a couple of agenda announcements we are removing from the agenda Oh So September nineteenth, twenty twenty three, the conference meeting minutes for revisions. The two other sets of minutes remain on the agenda for approval. We have changes. We have a walk on uh tonight, a motion approving the recommendation from the Citizens Committee of Recognition honoring former Mayor Robert Dressler as the twenty twenty two honored founder. Thank you for um having your emergency meeting this week. We really appreciate it and uh um And Rob Dress uh has just been a an amazing Um uh mayor and we thank him for his service during the years that he served our s our community. So with that having been said, uh would someone like to move for the approval of the amendments and the and the agenda as amended.
