Good evening everybody and welcome to the City Commission this october fifteenth, twenty twenty four. Thank you all for being here tonight. Uh we really appreciate your attending. For those of you who have who are here for the first time, welcome and I'll tell you a little bit of how we proceed. Pledge of allegiance and then we have a moment of silence and tonight I'd like to make some recognition, uh uh make some employee recognitions which we'll I'll go into shortly thereafter. So if I could ask you if I can first ask Courtney McCoy from the uh team trip program to uh meet me at the podium. Courtney is gonna join us all and lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. So if everyone can please rise.
All right, it's all yours.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation, under God, indivisible, and liberty and justice for all.
Corney, tell us a little bit, what is the

Um, it's a program where we just like help others who wanna have fun and um support those who is like You know, like Wanting things and for their dream to come true and stuff like that. That's what we did.
We have a little bag of gift gift for you to remember tonight's event. So thank you very much and good luck. Thank you.

to stay on stand on this side.
So uh like to take this point of uh personal privilege to acknowledge some of the folks that um uh from our police and our fire departments who participated in helping those who who were suffering uh terribly after after the result of the uh hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. Um I'd like to uh recognize them, announce their names and and I hope we can all send them a a collective thank you for the work that they have done and continue to do on behalf of uh of our city. Uh for Hel Kane uh Hurricane Helene in the fire department, we have Jermaine Frazier, Eric Pecrel, uh Kevin Galt, William White, Vincent Latona, Vincent uh Pigallo, Vincent, a lot of Vincents, uh Kossack, Bruce uh Strandhagen, and Carl Peterson.
They participated in Hurricane Helene. Uh also from our firefighters for Hurricane Milton, I'd like to recognize Shane Simcox, um Eric Perkrol again, uh Kenneth Soma. uh Kevin Galt, uh Scott Bain, William White, uh Vincent Latona, Vincent Pag Pagalo Pangallo, uh Jesus Martinez, Ronald Tetro, and Jonathan uh Bias. Uh from our police department. Those who participated in uh who went to Tampa, Lieutenant John Bohm, Sergeant Bobby Smith, Sergeant Omega Dean, uh Sergeant Tom Capano, Officer Joey uh Napon, uh Officer Mark Clark, Officer Jose Carrera, Officer Joe DeCuarto, uh Officer Teddy Levine, Officer Juan Geraldo, Officer Rudy Oliva, uh Officer Brian Medana. Officer Mark Johnson, Officer Nick Herring.
Officer Patricia De Marc DeMarc D Carmago, uh Officer Michael Kerschals, Officer Matt Sandalier, uh Officer Leon Pabon, uh Officer Luis Herrera, Officer Rafaela Melo, and PSA Matt Koch. Those who went to Horseshoe Beach was Sergeant Eric Pecrol and Officer Kenny Summer. Uh let's give them a round of applause, everybody. Thank you for your service and thank you for your generous contribution to those who were most in in need. Uh and at this point I would like to uh ask us all to share in a moment of silence um uh for those who who passed away during those storms and those who had uh friends and families who suffered uh as a result of those storms.
Okay, thank you so much. Um I also w want to announce a retirement uh who has been in service to the city of Fort Lauderdale for twenty four years. That's Greg May, Assistant Fire Chief. He retired in September eighteenth. So congratulations, Greg. I hope you enjoy your retirement.
