Good evening everybody and welcome to the City Commission meeting this January 7th, 2025. This is our first official meeting of the new year. I want to thank you all and wish you all a happy new year. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome. I see we have a full complement of visitors here tonight, so we'll try to get through the agenda and get to your matter. So we begin all of our meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance and then we have a moment of silence. and then some recognitions and ultimately a presentation before we get into the agenda. So if I could first of all ask Marlee Brown. Marlee, where are you? There you are, to join me at the podium. She's a second grader from Riverland Elementary School.

These are people who have worked with us for a very, very long period of time, and we want to thank them for their commitment to our city and to our community. Thomas Donato, senior utilities mechanic in public works, 26 years. Frank Santos, utilities crew leader in public works, 24 and a half years. Kian Movafaghi, Administrative Assistant in Public Works, 22 and a half years. And Betty Cruz, Senior Administrative Assistant in Public Works, 25 years. So congratulations and thank you. Mr. Dodd, is there anyone left in Public Works? I mean, they all seem to be retiring. Okay. So, Mr. Clerk, please call the roll.

Here. Here, we have a couple of agenda announcements. In CM5, Exhibit 1, Page 1, a portion of the last sentence was stricken from the fifth whereas clause. And CR4, that has been removed from the agenda and will be heard at the Wednesday, January 22, 2025 Commission regular meeting. Also, there's a change in CR5, Exhibit 2. The resolution was revised to correct Scrivener errors. So with that being said, would someone like to move to approve the minutes and the agenda as amended? So moved. Moved and seconded. On behalf of the City of Fort Lauderdale City Commission and the City Manager's Office, we are excited to present this student recognition tonight for students in the Fort Lauderdale Innovation Zone. This student recognition is based on the eight essential core character traits as identified after extensive public involvement by the Broward County School Board, And the character traits are cooperation, responsibility, citizenship, kindness, respect, honesty, self-control, and tolerance.
