What does the City Commission welcome and outline at the beginning of the meeting?

Dean Trantalis 0:01
Good evening, everybody, and welcome to the City Commission meeting this June 30th, 2025. We seem to have a very robust audience tonight, so we'll try to get through as many items as we can sooner than later. I KNOW THIS IS OUR LAST MEETING BEFORE THE SUMMER BREAK, AND I JUST WANT TO WISH EVERYBODY A WONDERFUL SUMMER HOLIDAY. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE GOING AWAY, BE SAFE. AND WE LOOK TO SEE YOU BACK AT THE END OF AUGUST WHEN WE RESUME OUR COMMISSION MEETINGS. AS WITH EVERY MEETING, WE START OUT WITH THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND DISCUSS VARIOUS MODIFICATIONS TO THE AGENDA. AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE PRESENTATIONS, AND TONIGHT WE HAVE THREE SHORT PRESENTATIONS. And then after that, we're going to resume the public comment regarding business three, which is the him or she matter that was taken up this afternoon at the conference meeting.
Dean Trantalis 0:52
And once we're through with that, we'll begin with the evening agenda items. So having said that, I would like to invite Shawna Roberts, Brooklyn Hibbett, and Giselle Williams to come meet me at the podium and join us all, if I can ask you all to please rise as we together say the Pledge of Allegiance.
Dean Trantalis 1:25
I pledge allegiance to the

flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for
Stephanie Toothaker 1:43
all.
Dean Trantalis 1:48
Want to take your picture? We got a little giftie for you here. See this young lady here? She's going to take our picture. And Commissioner?
Unknown 1:57
When
Dean Trantalis 2:00
she sees cute kids, she always likes to have her picture taken with them.
Dean Trantalis 2:44
THAT WAS GREAT. THANK YOU. So I'd like to also ask all of us to share these next few moments in silence as we reflect upon those who have passed. I just want to announce that my brother passed away last week. Very sad moment, our family.
Dean Trantalis 3:31
THANK YOU. SO I DON'T HAVE THE RETIREE SHEET. THIS IS A TIME WHEN WE ANNOUNCE FOLKS WHO HAVE THIS ONE RIGHT HERE. OH, GREAT. We have two people who have spent at least 20 years, in this case, 26 years, Lamont Roberts, Parks and Recreation, been with us 26 years. He's now retiring this month. And also David Corchado, who's been a senior utilities mechanic in public works. He's been with us 24 years. Congratulations. Thank you so much for your service. SO, A COUPLE OF AGENDA ITEMS. WE'RE REMOVING PH.2, AND AS A RESULT, CR.1 ITEM A IS REMOVED FROM THE CONSOLIDATED BUDGET AMENDMENT AND THE CORRESPONDING RESOLUTION AS IT RELATES TO PH.2. WE ALSO REMOVED WHATEVER THE PRESENTATION NUMBER ONE WAS GOING TO BE. AND THERE'LL ALSO BE A WALK-ON TONIGHT, A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE NOTICE OF INTENT TO ENTER INTO A COMPREHENSIVE AGREEMENT REGARDING A PARKING STRUCTURE HERE AT HOLIDAY PARK.
Dean Trantalis 4:54
SO WITH THAT IN MIND, DO I HEAR A MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AND THE AGENDA AS AMENDED? SO MOVED.
Dwayne Spence 5:02
SECOND.
Dean Trantalis 5:03
SECONDED. PLEASE CALL THE ROLL.
Dwayne Spence 5:06
Commissioner Beasley-Pittman? Yes. Commissioner Sorensen?
Dean Trantalis 5:10
Yes.
Dwayne Spence 5:12
Vice Mayor Herbst? Not present. Commissioner Glassman?
Dean Trantalis 5:15
Yes.
Dwayne Spence 5:17
Mayor Trantalis?
Dean Trantalis 5:18
Yes. So the minutes and the agenda, as modified and as amended, are now approved. Two presentations tonight. I'd like to invite Commissioner Beasley-Pittman to present a proclamation regarding National Boys and Girls Club Week in the City of Fort Lauderdale. And is Marcus Thomas here? Would you like to come up here and accept this proclamation on behalf of the city? You're with the Nan Knox Boys and Girls Club. They must keep you on your toes.
Pamela Beasley-Pittman 6:01
How you doing? Good to see you. Good evening, everyone. Good evening, everyone. Come on, we need your energy today, okay? Everyone that's here, we need you to interact with us. It's been a long afternoon for us, so we're going to ask that you pour into us, okay? I have the privilege this afternoon to read the proclamation and recognition of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County. This is from the city, the office of the mayor of the city of Fort Lauderdale. Whereas the City of Fort Lauderdale proudly recognized the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County for their unwavering dedication to helping young people reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
