Welcome to the City Commission, this first meeting for the year 2026. Thank you all for being here tonight. We have a lot to accomplish this year and we're very excited to begin tonight with our first meeting. But before we begin, just to let you know, those of you who are here for the first time, we begin our meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance and then followed by a moment of silence. and then we have certain announcements, and we have one presentation tonight, so something to look forward to. So as we continue on, we now INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN A MOMENT OF SILENCE. AS WE DO OBSERVE THAT MOMENT OF SILENCE, I'D LIKE YOU TO RECOGNIZE THREE PEOPLE. HARRY STEWART, OUR FORMER CITY ATTORNEY WHO RECENTLY PASSED AWAY, OUR CITY ATTORNEY FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. PAUL ARAGONIS, A TRANSPORTATION MOBILITY SECURITY GUARD WHO WAS WITH US FOR 12 YEARS, RECENTLY PASSED AWAY. AND ALSO, I'D LIKE TO RECOGNIZE Brian Perry, who, Penny, excuse me, who 30 years ago today was killed in the line of duty. He was only 27 years old. So, Officer Penny, we miss you and we recognize you each year as we recognize all those who have fallen in the line of service here in the city of Fort Lauderdale.

Okay, thank you. This is also a time when we recognize people who have served in our city for a very long period of time and who have now retired. So I'd like to announce there are six of them tonight. We start with Dwight Lewis, who is a lead facilities worker in Parks and Recreation. He was with us for 38 years. Congratulations, Dwight. We also recognize Alan Diamond, who was a police officer with our police department for 26 years. Congratulations. We have Martin Hendrick and Donald Gauntner. Martin was with Parks and Recreation, and he was with us for 12 years. And Donald Gauntner, police officer for 26 years. Jesse Gossman, police officer for 18 years. And Steve Higgins, a police officer for 18 years.
