So today we we had asked to be able to participate with the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee to talk about the uh actually the agenda item on tonight's uh agenda, which are recommendations by the advisory committee with regard to steps forward in trying to increase the amount of affordable housing here in Fort Lauderdale. Okay, here's the agenda. Um, we're gonna talk today about we're gonna introduce um the affordable housing advisory committee. And uh H C D staff will uh also will introduce them. Then we'll have the overview of the ship program. Everybody hears about the ship program and a lot of people t call it ship but they don't know much about it. So we're gonna give you an overview. Yeah. Mayor. Uh um then we'll talk about rapid rehousing and other rental assistance programs because we think John mentioned that previously. Um Affordable Housing Trust Fund, we have one of the A AH members who will talk about that, Susan. And um homeless will be Leanne Barber. So we try to bring up some key things that we are focusing on. So we will go ahead and get started. And we'll have the introduction. If you wanna take go move the uh PowerPoint to the next page. Okay. This did we did we pass I don't think we did. We didn't pass the list of uh affordable housing. This is just you can go back. This is ship st well no sh uh um we'll give a quiz. We're gonna give you a quiz at the end. But anyway, not really.

But uh state ship it stands for state housing initiative partnership, if you didn't know that. That's what ship stands for because we abbreviate it most of the time. Um and here it just talks about the affordable housing advisory committee when it was created and then they are mandated by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation to every year do the affordable housing incentive plan. It used to be every three years, but now it's every year annually. So that is one of their big tasks that they have to do. Um i it's normally there's eleven people, it can be from actually six to eleven people, depending on how many people you have, because there's different categories that you have to meet. And what they do, they look at the city's comprehensive plan, they look at all the city's uh developmental regulations, etcetera, to see what's on the books, and then they come up with different things they want to say suggestions.

And it's just what it says. It's a suggestion. It's a recommendation because they are only advisory. They they don't they're not one that would make rules and regulations. Okay? So they use based on that, um, they take the Florida statute. You can see that section f 420.9076, and they use eleven, I believe, incentives A through K.
