Everyone is here in the building, and so I'm going to give everyone about five to ten more minutes to get on the dais. And so we're all here. I know we're late, which is really, really unusual, but I'm giving everybody time to finish their photographs. Aww. And get in the room. All right, for my words of wisdom today, I'm actually going to read The Man in the Arena, which I've talked about many times as being one of my favorite quotes. It was written by President Roosevelt, and the reason I like this, especially as we start a first term, is because of a couple of reasons. One, we're coming off of an election where there was a lot of, it was an election, let's just... Let's just leave it at that. And over the next four years, we are going to receive a lot of feedback. And much of our feedback is going to be constructive feedback. In fact, most of the feedback we receive will be constructive feedback from citizens, from one another, from staff, from family, from everyone that we really should try to listen to and take heed to.

But every once in a while, you will also get feedback from people just because they choose to want to kind of be critical without having any answers. And when that happens, I always try to think of Roosevelt's words, which were the man in the arena. So I read this to myself whenever I need to. And so I want to just share this, and often when I say something that's for the good of the county or whatever, but supervisors, my colleagues, this today is just for you. It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man, or in this case woman, who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust, sweat, and blood.

Okay, so we're gonna start off today by, I'm assuming everyone did look at your package, and we're gonna start off today just with motions, and we will talk inside the motions. I move that the Board of Supervisors adopt the Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct as outlined in attachment one to the Organization of Matters items for the January 2nd, 2024 Board of Supervisors Business Meeting. MOTIONS MADE AND SECONDED BY SUPERVISOR BRICKSMAN. SO I WOULD JUST SAY THAT I'M ALWAYS REALLY PROUD TO PASS THE CODE OF CONDUCT. IT WAS A CAMPAIGN PROMISE THAT I MADE IN 2015 THAT WE WOULD HAVE A CODE OF CONDUCT ON THIS BOARD. I think that it's really important to do that, to have that and to, I have it actually hanging on my wall in my office and I read it from time to time.

So it's important to have. And supervisors, after we pass this today, what happens is the code of conduct gets hung on the wall outside the door. And so after we pass it, Ms. Grimmel has the actual resolution. SO IF EVERYONE BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE BUILDING TODAY COULD SIGN IT SO IT CAN HANG ON THE WALL, I'D APPRECIATE THAT.
