Thank you very much, uh Madam Chair. Good afternoon, uh members of the board. I just wanted to first uh welcome Dean Lynch, who we all know, and thank him for personally coming up to uh deliver the awards. Uh you all may know but this is uh the VACO Achievement Awards has been going on for twenty three years. So this is the twenty third year, I believe one hundred and fifty five winners. Uh and three of those uh winners are right here in Prince William County. So Uh thank you uh Dean in advance for uh for delivering the message. Uh this is really a recognition of the innovation and creativity and cooperation. Uh and so uh off Office of Elections, uh ADC uh and our Department of Transportation all receiving awards today.

Good afternoon, Madam Chair, board members. Uh I'm Dean Lynch. Uh executive director of the Virginia Association of Counties and it's my pleasure to be here today. А то презент до Вейко Ачивмент Авардс. And for the benefit of uh your constituents who may not be familiar with the Virginia Association of Counties. A Vaco has existed since nineteen thirty four to serve and support your efforts as county officials. We support counties in many ways. First is through our advocacy efforts at the state legislature and and in Washington. Second is through uh our educational programs that many of you have already participated in. And also through member services and our communication efforts.

And I hope everybody is reading our newsletter that we send out twice a month and all of our alerts that we're getting ready to send out. uh when the General Assembly is back in town uh in January. In two thousand three, we established our achievement award program to recognize counties that have adopted innovative approaches to providing public services. And identifying programs that could serve as models that other counties could emulate. And today I'm proud to present Prince William County with three achievement awards. As Chris are as Chris m just mentioned a minute ago, this is our twenty third annual achievement award program. And we received over a hundred and fifty five entries this year. Prince William County now has won the award thirty three times.

And Prince William County ranks fourth of all time and all time winners. Prince William County has also won won the award thirteen consecutive years. And Prince William County has won the best achievement award in twenty twenty. There were several guidelines that our judges used in in uh in d giving out the awards. And number one, is the program an innovative program or a solution to a problem? And does the program promote intergovernmental cooperation? or cooperation with the local, state and federal level. Number three, does the program provide uh provide a model? that other counties can emulate. And number four, is the program an innovative approach or a customization of local government? And with your three awards, I'll quickly read uh the the winners right now, just a little bit about 'em.

One winner is the Office of Elections, open house. Prince William County sold out open house allows hundreds of voters to get a firsthand view of the office of elections. Uh they can demonstrate transparency transparency and the effectiveness of voting processes. And they also garnered significant media attention across the region. In August of twenty twenty four, the Prince William County Office of Elections opened its doors to the public for two full days to demonstrate five major election areas. Voter registration, mail voting.
