I still remember Matt Gary say, like, because Matt Gary was the head coach of Team USA, him messaging me saying, oh, my God, I just found somebody in Italy that's a complete monster.
And he's like, now I'm worried.
Like, the whole plan with Sam Calhoun might be out the window.
And then, of course, you emerge.
Even then, we didn't know who Leah Babwell was.
Yeah.
It is crazy that at the time, we thought we were about to enter the Sam Calhoun era, and you and Leah Babwell were about to emerge that day in a major way.
My gosh, there's a lot changed since then, huh?
What would you tell the Corolla Gara of 2019 if you could talk to her?
Since then, because you won the World Championship, and you really have been in the 63 kilo class, 69 kilo class, and for Italy as well, you're at the forefront.
When people think of Team Italy, they think of you almost like the unofficial team captain, and these other girls coming up behind you, and some of them might win or not, but you've been around the longest.
Do you feel like, like that probably started around 2019, do you feel that as well, being at the forefront for Team Italy?
I wonder if when they come to the world championships, and some of them for the first time vying for their first world title,
I'm sure they're nervous.
And if they look over and they see you, they might take a little bit of encouragement.
Like, bring in your big sister to this type deal.
Do you feel like that almost when newer people on the national team come?
Do you feel that role a little bit as the elder statesman, as we call it?
100% it's like there's no question because you you were a world champion 2019 you might have been the reason some of these girls started powerlifting or at the very least they started powerlifting and for Italy at least it was you and no other world champion so for you to still be here when they're coming to the world championships it's definitely going to mean something for yourself at this particular world championships
uh analisa had a good day but but didn't get any any medals um serenaldi lost her title chiara a little injured didn't have the day she wanted did you feel any pressure being the next up um because i was talking to some people uh when yesterday was rolling around the battle of the 69s and there's a couple people saying oh italy's not having a good world championships
