One thing that I appreciated like on a real, you know, human level from this book, what the author was able to capture is this kind of shame and guilt that sits with people who feel like they could have done something but don't.
And it starts very young.
And I think it takes people because I read this book, a couple of my friends read it, my brother read it.
And all of us seem to feel this inert sense of like, yeah, I know what that feels like to really, really know and sit with.
I should have done something, could have done something and didn't.
And sometimes those things happen years and years and years ago.
Right.
Like you can think back in your mind about that one thing that still sits with you decades later that you're like, should I bring this up to therapy?
Because, yeah, it was impactful and you feel like you could have made a difference and didn't.
And this author takes us through that brutality and the psychological effects of that.
So that's The Girl Next Door.
Survivor's guilt, yeah.
And survivor's guilt sometimes can feel like a big concept.
Like I didn't experience anything that big for it to be survivor's guilt.
But yeah, in little, little ways and nuanced ways, there is some level of that.
Because you can kind of put it on the characters, you know?
Well, this is not about me, but by the end of the book, it kind of is about me.
I feel that.
But I hope you find... Oh, were we allowed to do that?
