Uh look, early on for me it was pretty terrifying, really.
A terrifying prospect.
Um
My HIV diagnosis came as a complete shock, you know, as a twenty three year old woman who knew nothing about
H I V coming to terms with that was pretty tough.
So those
first few months where I had to start considering disclosing to people was um
you know, that was a challenge.
Um but I was sort of really pleasantly surprised by the reactions that I did start receiving once I felt comfortable enough to disclose to people.
Um what were some of those reactions that you got?
The
Look, I had um, you know, people who were sort of pursuing a relationship with me and that was a terrifying prospect when, you know, I thought that that was just game over in that sort of part of my life.
Oh how awful, God.
As a result of the diagnosis and when people sort of weren't really blinking or having too many issues with it.
Um it was a you know, a really
you know, a surprisingly positive experience.
Um
And that's been the pattern I've noticed, you know, not just with sexual partners, but people in general are super accepting and way more awesome than you would expect them to be.
